With this photo I am starting a new set called "Car Boot Mysteries". It was found by Mr CD in San Fran. He went to great lengths to explain to me why he found this photo interesting (besides his love of vintage cars). Anyway, we have a place called North Pole in Australia. It's in a remote part of Western Australia and it's a bloody hot there.

Launched on November 7, 1996, Mars Global Surveyor (MGS) began its mission of mapping Mars in March 1999. For nine years, four times longer than originally planned, it observed Mars from a low-altitude, nearly polar orbit. The mission returned more than 240,000 images and other data until November 2006.
This is a wide angle view of Mars's north polar cap as it appeared to the MGS Mars Orbiter Camera (MOC) in early northern summer. The picture was acquired on March 13, 1999, near the start of the Mapping Phase of the MGS mission. The light-toned surfaces are residual water ice that remains through the summer season. The nearly circular band of dark material surrounding the cap consists mainly of sand dunes formed and shaped by wind. The north polar cap is roughly 1100 kilometers (680 miles) across.

My Aunt signed up Shonara for a Free Letter from Santa - this was in her local newspaper in Alabama -
I've searched online and I cant find this particular one - all the others seem to be free Emailed letters or Free letters from Santa that you print up yourself
This one was actually mailed to her via
"snail-mail" and its says its from the Northpole
hee hee - gotta love that
I'll have to ask my Aunt more about it
But I LOVE it
Just like they say "the best things in life are free " - this is such a great little gift
I'm going to stash it in her baby book -but for now its hanging near the fire place

Santa said she is on the NICE list - not on the Naughty list
I went out very briefly yesterday in the cold temps. Tried taking photos but my lens kept fogging and icing up. On the way home saw this young moose feeding. Not a great shot but between the frosted window that wouldn't go down, the lens that kept icing up and being stopped on a busy road - this was the best I took:)
-51 this morning and I need to be at work in a few hours. I hope the ice fog isn't too bad and that it warms up.
