The soft rolling countryside of Exmoor

One of the stations on the West Somerset Railway. I was rather taken by all the different lines in the photograph: from the wooden planks on the building and the nicely painted white gate.

They aren't as clever as our little wild Mallard! Shearing the sheep has had its effect on my T shirt!

Ilfracombe Harbour

It's such a lovely day today, I thought we could take an imaginary trip to the seaside. Ilfracombe Harbour, anyone? We could take a boat trip along the coast and then have lunch in one of the fish restaurants before taking a stroll through the town.

Scenes from the cleave

Detail from the waterfall at Clovelly, a fishing village that has been frozen in time, and shows life as it was before the cyber revolution.

The open farmland of Exmoor

The Bristol Channel coast near Lee Bay. Lucy, the three legged lurcher from the Grampus pub.

Fern, the lurcher watching and waiting.

Some damp weather after a long dry spell seems to have brought up the mushrooms.

Clovelly: Bob Scott took this picture of the old fishing quay in which it’s really very unique. The village of Clovelly is still owned by one family, a tradition that goes back to the Norman Conquest. No trip round Clovelly is complete without a good look round the visitor centre and it is one of those places that should not be rushed. Allow at least half a day to explore this place fully and if time allows you to spend a whole day here. It really is a treat.
