Look, you lot……I am not blind you know…….I can see that you are trying to hide your new found friend behind Misty and Molly……But the answer is no……We cannot take him home with us……Why……Well for a start……I am not so sure he is as friendly as you guys say he is……And also, I not so sure NASA would be happy with Halo…… if we over loaded the spaceship that they kindly loaned him, and brought Roland back home with us …..Anyhow……This planet that we find ourselves on in a distant galaxy in deep space might be a barren place…..but it is after all Roland home…..And he might find it hard to settle in back on Earth……Yes I know that you are all very disappointed about it….But come on…..Be practical ……After all…..We really have not got the room for him on our spacecraft…….Oh I see….You have been in contact with Nasa who have already solved that problem for you……As they suggested to leave me here on this planet with that darn guitar of mine……(Their words, not mine I might add)……Which would then make room for Roland on the spaceship…….Ummmmm……And just what did you guys tell NASA to do with their outrageous idea I wonder……Don’t tell me ……I think it’s better that I don’t know…..

A surprising sunset at Ilfracombe last night

Lynmouth is a village in Devon, England, on the northern edge of Exmoor. The village straddles the confluence of the West Lyn and East Lyn rivers, in a gorge 700 feet (210 m) below Lynton, which was the only place to expand to once Lynmouth became as built-up as possible. Both villages are connected by the Lynton and Lynmouth Cliff Railway which works two cable-connected cars on gravity, using water tanks.

The two villages are a civil parish governed by Lynton and Lynmouth Town Council. The parish boundaries extend southwards from the coast and includes hamlets such as Barbrook and small moorland settlements such as East Ilkerton, West Ilkerton and Shallowford.

The South West Coast Path and Tarka Trail pass through, and the Two Moors Way runs from Ivybridge in South Devon to Lynmouth; the Samaritans Way South West runs from Bristol to Lynton and the Coleridge Way from Nether Stowey to Lynmouth.

Lynmouth was described by Thomas Gainsborough, who honeymooned there with his bride Margaret Burr, as "the most delightful place for a landscape painter this country can boast".

This is a photo my partner Cody took whilst away in North Devon. She has kindly given me permission to upload it to flickr.

Here we see Stagecoach South West 15798 WA61KMK photographed at Appledore Seagate Hotel while operating the 21A service between Appledore and Ilfracombe. Normally this route is operated with North Devon Wave branded buses but this bus was standing in for one of them & this one drives well from a driver's point of view. This bus was also one of a batch that started off live on the hop12 route in Torquay & later got transferred to Barnstaple to replace older buses.

Built in 1946 Freshspring is a historic steamship, recognised as being a vessel of National Importance. She is the last of 14 Fresh Class water carriers that belonged to Royal Fleet Auxiliary. She survives in civilian hands as SS Freshspring, the last surviving example of the Fresh-class ships. The last of fourteen ships, she was used to carry fresh water out to larger ships.

Currently berthed at Bideford, as a static exhibit, the aim of the Steamship Freshspring Trust is to return the ship to operation, preserving the past to inspire knowledge for the future.
