As I was about to drop down into Barnstaple this morning. I've been all day along the north coast of Devon and Cornwall and all day, brilliant sunshine has been interrupted by fog rolling in from the sea.
Clovelly: Bob Scott took this picture of the narrow steep road where Donkey's used to be used to move goods around the village but these days sledges are used. The roads are far too narrow and steep for any motor vehicle although there is now a back road and a land rover service to take those exhausted tourists back up to the top for a fee of course. Children can take donkey rides near the visitor centre and main car park
The old Barnstaple to Bideford Railway Line is now a cycle/foot path making up part of the SW Coast Path.
This view is taken looking across the River Torridge towards the Old Bideford Bridge and Bideford itself.
The path was used to film a programme in the series James May's Toy Stories where a model railway was laid along the path.
Taken on a short stay near Barnstaple in October 2013.

My son, "The Stormbringer".

By the bus stop in Sticklepath one of the 'magnificent seven' one mile markers still surviving around the town from 1879.
Saunton Beach North Devon. Note the brave ones bottom right going in to surf. They look like tiny ants
The water has been low for a while and interesting colour algae and weed is growing on the mud. A bright day may really bring these colours to life, I'll return when it's sunny.

All Aboard!
Today is the longest day (Summer Solstice) and it is going to be another scorcher. Not so when I had a day out on the West Somerset Railway - it was a damp and grey day as you can see. The weather didn't spoil my enjoyment though - you can't beat chugging through the countryside on a steam train - no matter what the weather!
