(Behind-the-scene: Turned my head this way, and that, trying to follow the Gulls' flight paths. Then one got close. It actually got very close at 200mm! Same day, same place, same hour when I took this and this!)

Today I went to the Macquarie Pass National Park with Mike and Stephane. What we found was an amazing nirvana of photographic opportunity. I have so many images from this shoot that I like. It will take me weeks to process them all.
I am very happy with this one. This is a 5 image pano with 3 brackets of +1/0/-1 EV. Each of the individual images is composed of 5 focus stacked images at different focus distances to get both the foreground and background in good focus. I am very happy with how it has all stitched together. I processed it heavily in photoshop using NIK, levels, curves and masking.

In Buddhism, the greatest relief or solace that we can obtain is that of touching nirvana, where nonfear has become something that is part of everyday life. We have a great fear inside ourselves. We are afraid of everything—of our death, of being alone, of change—and the practice of mindfulness helps us to touch nonfear. It is only here that you can experience total relief, total happiness. Nirvana is the foundation of our being, just as water is considered to be the essence of all waves. In the beginning we think that we have a beginning and an end, a birth and a death, and we might think that before our birth we were not there and after our death we will not be there, and we get caught up in the concept of being and nonbeing. Together let us look deeply at a wave in the ocean. It lives its life of a wave, but it lives the life of water at the same time. If the wave were able to turn toward itself and touch its substance, which is water, then it would be able to attain nonfear and nirvana. We live with the concepts of birth and death, of being and nonbeing, of unity and plurality; we have not had the occasion to touch the ultimate dimension of our being. This is nirvana, which can be translated as “extinction.” But extinction of what? Of all emotions, including the notions of birth, death, being, and nonbeing. Thich Nhat Hanh

Since this set has blown up, I figure I'll address some common things I'm hearing:
- Yes, the baby is wearing a diaper AND has his little baby junk hanging out. I started with the international symbol style for the baby, then added the main event, then realized that it was kinda fun that it was just that symbol plus a baby penis. So all you folks that are confused, there's the story. If it helps, distract from this issue by asking yourself why this baby is swimming after a dollar bill :P

Mit dem obigen Bild möchte ich die Polarität des aktiven und passiven Bewusstseins darstellen. Das introvertierte, meditative Bewusstsein endet in der Einsamkeit, in der Stille. Das extravertierte Bewusstsein fällt in die Dualität und in die Auseinandersetzung mit der inneren oder äußeren Opposition. Es herrscht relative Unbewusstheit.

Die östliche Philosophie betont Nirvana - die westliche Samsara.
Während der Westen das Ego fördert, hilft der Osten, das Ego zu transzendieren.
Schließlich kann man zum Beobachter werden und dieses Bild der Gegensätze betrachten.
Der Unterschied zwischen Samsara und Nirvana ist für mich der Unterschied zwischen Ego-Bewusstsein und Selbst-Bewusstsein.
