The engine hums a low, steady bassline as the bow cuts through liquid gold. This is the moment the Sinai Peninsula reveals its true magic in the quiet, cinematic surrender of dusk.
A rugged horizon of sun-baked mountains bleeds into a sky of dusty peach and soft lavender. The water below isn't just blue; it’s a living, breathing canvas of fractured amber light.
On the right, a white tour boat aptly named Nirvana glides effortlessly toward the horizon, its wake carving a silver path through the metallic sheen of the Gulf of Aqaba.
To the left, a handful of kayakers drift like ink drops across the glowing water, their paddles dipping silently into the reflection of the sun evoking a sense of absolute stillness and mindfulness.
Behind them all, the jagged, prehistoric silhouettes of the mountains stand as silent sentinels, wrapped in a warm, hazy mist that blurs the line between sea, earth, and sky.
The lighting is the defining element of this image. Shot during the golden hour, the soft, diffused sunlight creates a warm, atmospheric glow.
On the liquid canvas below, the sea mirrors the heavens. The water ripples with a gentle, metallic shimmer, catching the last fragments of daylight and fracturing them into thousands of tiny, orange-gold facets.
As the sun dips behind the peaks, painting the world in rich gradients of copper and cool slate, you realize that Dahab isn’t just a destination you visit. It is a mood you inhabit. It’s the feeling of saltwater on your skin, a cool evening breeze starting to kick up, and the realization that you are witnessing a masterpiece that will fade in minutes, only to be painted again tomorrow.
The image tells a story of travel, exploration, and leisure. The text "NIRVANA" visible on the back of the boat acts as an unintended but powerful thematic anchor, reflecting the blissful, paradise-like atmosphere of the scene.

Had a great time chasing Eastern Sierra fall colors this weekend while instructing a great group of folks in the Eastern Sierras Fall Colors Workshop.
I couldn't post one of those fall shots until I get this one out of the hopper.
When mother nature puts on a show, she goes all out. If there was ever a time that I subconsciously questioned why I sit out in the dark in the freezing cold hoping for visual nirvana hoping to catch Mother Nature present her finest.
All the while that little devil on my shoulder prodding, whispering "your going to get skunked "again" Well I have two words for that little guy now...Suck It!!! LOL.

The interplay between sun, water and rock was just incredible to witness.
I had a lucky shot tonight, there was a magnificent bird in the sky, I believe it's a black kite. Anyway I captured the moment and then added to it some light to represent the state of happiness it gave me. Hope it delivers the same feelings to you too. 😍

I spotted the sky may be perfect for a sunset, driving back from a photoshoot with June, which was great fun. There was this small slot below the clouds, and as expected the sun burst through almost on the horizon, firing up the clouds. All in all a magical few hours with my new camera. It was a pity I didn't take my widest angle lens, but I still had a great time. Nirvana is by Tom Waits.
