Detail of the virgin Mary statue behind the high altar. A special design feature is the window behind the Madonna's head, the window acts as a halo, an effect emphasized by the golden rays emanating from the window.
St. Maria (St. Mary) is a Wallfahrtskirche (pilgrimage church) located in Thalkirchen, in the south of Munich. The church was built in Gothic style around 1390, replacing a Romanesque predecessor. The steeple still has some late Romanesque features. In 1693-1698 the church was converted to Baroque style, the appearance of the Madonna with the windew behind is a Rococo work by Ignaz Günther dating to 1759-1769.

"Qué cosa traes, nimbo oscuro,
¿qué mercancía vienes a entregar?
Blanda lluvia, cruel granizo...
Tu uniforme gris de nada informa;
apareces de oficio, alguacil encomendado,
entregarás y te irás.
Y habrá que lidiar con lo que hayas traído."

The sky in Snoqualmie, WA.
This is a halo (also, known as nimbus, icebow or Gloriole.) I captured this in Snoqualmie, WA. It is not a lens flare; it was visible by the naked eye when I took the shot.
It was a magical experience to notice it, and have all the time to take the long exposure shot. About 30 minutes later it was gone.
Have a wonderful weekend.
