Das Grossmutterloch

Der Legende nach war der Teufel einst so wütend, dass er seine Grossmutter an die Felswand geschleudert habe. Geologen erklären das Phänomen vielmehr mit dem natürlichen Prozess der Gesteinserosion. Der 5×15 m grosse Schlitz in der Felswand bietet insbesondere zwischen November und Februar ein viel fotografiertes Naturereignis. Dann strahlt nämlich jeweils für ein paar Minuten die tiefstehende Sonne hindurch.

Geschichte

Die erste urkundliche Nachricht erhalten wir durch eine Konsekration. Am 1. August 1441 wird die Kirche mit drei Altären und dem Friedhof zu Ehren von St. Maria und den Hl. Drei Königen, Andreas, Sebastian, Antonius Abt, Maria Magdalena und Theodul geweiht. Verschiedene Einbauten und Umbauten in den Jahren 1712 und 1757.

Baubeschrieb

Rechteckiges Schiff mit dreiseitig geschlossenem Chor. Von den früheren spätgotischen Fenstern ist noch ein Fischblasenmasswerk am Turahus vorhanden. Der Chorbogen ist rund und beidseitig breit gefast. Über dem Schiff liegt eine trapezförmige Leistendecke aus dem 18. Jh.

Turm: Dieser steht an der Südseite des Schiffes. Im Süden eine rundbogige geschlossene Scharte, einfache Lichtschlitze, Zeltdach mit Plattenbelag.

Malereien: Über den Fenstern stammen von 1757.

Ausstattung

Taufstein um 1503 entstanden, polygonale Kanzel.

Abendmahlsgeräte: Louis-Seize-Kelch, Schraubkanne aus Zinn.

Glocke: Aus den Jahren 1454 und 1663 mit Inschriften.
