From last spring, another nightscape from the Badlands NP, South Dakota. I'm trying to psych up for this Spring - gets harder every year for me I think. The images are generally so worth the "pain" though.
Gift of the Gael is a replica viking long boat moored at Lodore steamer jetty on Derwentwater lake in Cumbria ... It seemed a perfect spot for some night sky photography, & the half moon illuminated the scene really well, which was a nice bonus.
‘Lighthouse’
Mallorca has a lot of beautiful lighthouses. This one is in the south of the island. Here you still have some nice dark spots to see and photograph the milky way. With @photopills i calculated that the Milky Way was in perfect line with the lighthouse.
When I arrived at the location there was a small problem. The light from the lighthouse was to bright for a long exposure. When the light hit the camera once, it was perfect. It did every 7 seconds, so I could make an exposure of 13 seconds. Still get it? ;) I’m quite happy with the result! What do you guys think of this one?
A view of North Sister and Middle Sister mountains from the Dee Wright Observatory in the Willamette National Forest in Central Oregon. Nine untracked 10s images at 50mm, f/2, ISO 6400 were combined to increase signal to noise. That's lava rock and burnt trees in the foreground.
After a not so successful session on shooting comet C/2021 A1 (Leonard) (arrow tip), I saw planet Venus dominating the sky and the sea.

No-HDR. Just plain photo, with some PS adjustments. Also used Tungsten White Balance to get those 'cold' color tones.

Lines into the horizon - Newhaven tide mills. The light came from the moon and some ground work lights. Which helped to light the foreground.

This photo was taken in the Umeda area from the Yodogawa bank in Osaka. There are several buildings under construction, and you can see the redevelopment of Umeda. With the development of the city, the neon will become more and more dazzling in the future.

En Islandia ya me había sucedido encontrarme con muchos aficionados que se dedicaban a cazar auroras, pero siempre en parajes espectaculares. En Laponia, desconociendo el terreno, salimos en busca de un lugar con total oscuridad para tomar fotos a las auroras.
Encontramos esta explanada junto a la carretera y paramos a la espera de que apareciera la aurora, que en este caso se retrasó más de 2 horas. Eramos los únicos en el paraje con temperaturas alrededor de 25 bajo cero y con el coche arrancado para mantener el calor. En esas circunstancias, algunas necesidades se convierten en un auténtico problema.
Es curioso como fueron apareciendo los aficionados, seguramente usuarios del servicio de aviso, cuando empezó a verse la aurora.
Tengo una secuencia curiosa de como el compañero va tomando fotos.

October Milky Way over White Pocket region, Vermillion Cliffs Nat'l Mon., northern Arizona. I used Low Level Lighting last week to enhance the texture of the bleached-white sandstone or "cauliflower rock" in this unique area. In the wet seasons, these depressions fill up with rain water runoff and serve as waterholes for wildlife and cattle.
