Urban nightscape of the city of Liege, Belgium. The Meuse river is bordered by buildings from the 1960ies and 1970ies. These contrasted landscapes can best be appreciated at night time, when the light is on in the apartments.
Nightscape in the once prosperous little town of Acland on the Darling Downs. Today it's a ghost town. All but one householder has sold out to New Hope Coal whose nearby open cut mine threatens to swallow the township. Many of Acland's buildings have been removed or demolished and just the streets remain - good for undisturbed astrophotography!
Happy Solar Farts Friday. Yes, that's still a thing for now. It seemed as the night went on, the sky would just get crazier with a variety of colors. I set up a small LED light to illuminate the trees. This was the second to last photograph taken that night. Mother Nature was saving the best for last ... or at least next to last. Being in southern hemisphere it was mandatory to try to get a milky way shot.

Slightly too long on the shutter and started to get a bit of movement in the stars and the moon was too big that night to get any proper definition. Taken at the boundry fence to a quarry in Bembridge by the sea.

Still learning Olympus Pen. Leaning too much on stabilisation in camera did not work in this case. Definitely not fast enough but that gives some wabi-sabi feeling. Non?

A surprisingly warm February night in downtown Chicago. Taken from the DuSable Bridge looking southwest down the Chicago River towards Irv Kupcinet Bridge.
The galactic core of our wonderful Milky Way Galaxy behind a few boulders near the shore of Antelope Lake in Plumas County, California, USA in the pre-dawn hours of a chilly spring morning. When I photographed this scene the temperature was just meeting the dew point (in the mid 20’s Fahrenheit) and I literally watched fog begin forming as I “light painted” the foreground rocks with my flashlight. The low wispy fog can just be seen in the image beyond the stars reflecting off the water between the rocks. The golden glow on the horizon beyond the trees are the northern California towns of Portola (left) and Quincy (right).
