...just quoting Jean-Luc Godard. Spain makes a perfect setting. The land that created the origins of Holocaust, by wiping off New World Indians, and the perverse mindset of Holy Inquisition. Can't beat that.

My lanky-ass in my parents backyard in the Oakland Hills, circa 1985. I was 20.

Original late 1970s poster of the wonderful Deborah Harry of the equally wonderful Blondie. It's about 3' x 2' in measurement. It decorated my wall for many years as a teeny punky new waver :-)

Recorded: May - November 1982 at Sinus Studio Bern, Switzerland

Note: The names of some tracks on the album ("Mandragora," "Belladonna," and "Geastrum Coronatum") refer to plants and fungi that have medicinal, poisonous and hallucinogenic properties.

They are also the sort of plants one might associate with Sinus Studios, which by Vollenweider's time there already was associated with the Swiss psychedelia scene and Swiss rock. In 1972 it had been the recording site of the album "Seven Up," a collaboration between space rock band Ash Ra Tempel and drug-culture figure Timothy Leary.

Openig-Act di The 1975, il 12 aprile 2016 al Fabrique di Milano, The Japanese House.

Born and raised in Buckinghamshire, The Japanese House aka 20 year old Amber Bain now lives in Camden but isn't quite sure why as she spends most of her time hanging about East London. Giving up on childhood dreams of being a politician, at age 11 Amber discovered that music was cool and settled on being a rock star instead. Her father taught her all the classics (AC/DC and Stairway To Heaven) on the acoustic guitar and her musical fate was secured. Very much part of the Dirty Hit Records family, she counts members of The 1975 as co-producers and is a regular on label mate Marika Hackman's instagram. Despite having already released the brilliant EP, Pools To Bathe In, and preparing to drop the second, Clean, Amber has only recently begun to perform her material live following a series of reportedly very fun, very loud rehearsals. "I'm sorry if I'm shouting… my ears are constantly ringing!" she tells us over coffee. She decides that her music sounds like "a sad little puppy listening to Beyoncé to cheer itself up" and we decide that it's no wonder Ryan Hemsworth wants to work with her. Get to know the girl soundtracking our waking hours and putting us to sleep at night… welcome to The Japanese House.

Marco "Morgan" Castoldi – voce, basso e piano

Andrea "Andy" Fumagalli – tastiere, sax e voci

Sergio Carnevale – batteria, percussioni

Livio Magnini – chitarre

From my 80's scrap book--- homage to Bauhaus.

I took this set of shots at a nightclub in Boston in 1980. The folks I photographed were game, but the security team kicked me out. They're not really punks, but New Wavers in Prayer doesn't pack the same alliterative punch. Do you recognize anyone?
