Don't leave
Don't leave
I want you to realise when I'm gone
My, my
My, my
You are the only thing I wanna own
There's sugar on your soul
And you're like no one I know
You're the life from another world
You swallow me whole
With just a mumbled hello
And it breaks my heart to love you
It breaks my heart to love you
Don't leave
Don't leave
When you're lost in a moment, I am home
I try
I try
To make you realise when I'm gone, gone, gone
There's sugar on your soul
You're like no one I know
You're the light from another world
You swallow me whole
With just a mumbled hello
And it breaks my heart to love you
It breaks my heart to love you
There's sugar on your soul
There's sugar on your soul
There's sugar on your soul
And your like no one I know
You're the life from another world
You swallow me whole
With just a mumbled hello
And it breaks my heart to love you
It breaks my heart to love you
Don't leave
Don't leave
I want you to realise when I'm gone
The NEW Wave, Page, Arizona
The actual Wave is considered ecologically sensitive and vulnerable to irreparable damage if access to them is not strictly controlled. Only 20 lucky people per day are allowed to visit it. After two attempts for the lottery system, I was not one of those winners. My plan B directed me to this interesting little spot with some very unusual rock formations near Page. Like The Wave it is made of Navajo sandstone and has extensive fine detail and cross bedding.
I harvested some breathtaking pictures on the ‘pilgrim path’. This experience assured me again that “when life gives you a hundred reasons to cry, show life that you have a thousand reasons to smile.”
Hello Can you hear from the other side?
Or is this all made up.

"There's too many kings
Want to hold you down
And a world at the window
Gone underground"
One of many pockets of swirlsing sandstone at the New Wave in Page AZ. I liked this one because it looks like a little mini desert and oasis in the middle.

It's that time of year again, time for the 6th annual Halloween Hellraiser event at Soundproof underground music club! The event will take place on Wednesday, October 27th from 1-7pm SLT.
This year is an especially frightful treat, featuring 3 DJs, a shopping area with Halloween-inspired exclusives from 7 fantastic SL designers and *3* separate costume contests with a prize of 2000L to win each time.
Here's how it works: There are 3 DJ sets from 1pm to 7pm. During every 2 hour DJ set there will be a costume contest and public voting. At the end of that 2 hour period voting is tallied and a winner of the contest is announced. So you get 3 chances to win!
So come in your best creepy looks or just come as you are and dance to the ghoulish and spooky Halloween music mixes by our 3 great DJs:
1-3pm SLT DJ Dox
3-5pm SLT DJ Ruy Gloom
5-7pm SLT DJ Angie Coeur
And in the shopping area, find exclusives from these designers: Alpha Tribe, CIRCA, BYRNE, Mondo, Simply Saddii, The Stringer Mausoleum, and Ballade.
Don't miss Soundproof's Halloween Hellraiser on October 27th. It'll be truly epic!

Behind the Wheel (Shep Pettibone mix)/
Route 66 (The Beatmasters mix)
A Depeche Mode 12-inch (30.5cm) single I picked up decades ago. The A-side, “Behind The Wheel”*, is a fairly standard dance remix of one of several singles from their 1987 Music for the Masses album.
The B-side, a catchy remix of DM's cover of “(Get Your Kicks on) Route 66, is why I bought this. This remix, complete with audio clips lifted from the 1970s American game show Name That Tune and one audio clip midway through which sounds like a 1950s-60s public service announcement, is as wild as the original is laid back.
*While doing my research, I've found out the decorative umlaut ( ¨ ) seen here on the cover is called a metal umlaut (or röck döts). Unfortunately, the MacOS Option-U plus letter keystroke sequence does not allow umlauts to be used improperly.

Blondie - Hanging on the telephone - 1978
I'm in the phone booth, it's the one across the hall
If you don't answer, I'll just ring it off the wall
I know he's there, but I just had to call
Don't leave me hanging on the telephone
I heard your mother now she's going out the door
Did she go to work or just go to the store
All those things she said, I've chosen to ignore
Oh why can't we talk again
Don't leave me hanging on the telephone
It's good to hear your voice you know it's been so long
If I don't get your calls then everything goes wrong
I want to tell you something you've known all along
Don't leave me hanging on the telephone
I had to interrupt and stop this conversation
Your voice across the line gives me a strange sensation
I'd like to talk when I can show you my affection
Oh, I can't control myself
Don't leave me hanging on the telephone
Hang up and run to me
By the summer of '77 some companies had begun to try and cash in on the 'New Wave'. This is a poster magazine that was published by Felden Productions and features a number of articles and colour photographs of The Vibrators, Sex Pistols, The Clash, Siouxsie and the Banshees etc. On the other side is a large poster of Johnny Rotten.
I thought this kind of thing was awful because it treated the punk bands like pop stars. I was used to reading about the new bands in fanzines that were produced by punks, and made-up of xeroxed pages that were stapled together. I certainly didn't want to see these bands in glossy colour magazines!
Having said that I did buy this magazine, but at least I didn't put the Johnny Rotten poster up on my bedroom wall.
Scanned from the original magazine.

Milk and Cheese and Aesop’s Desecrated Morals
By Michael Vance
“Milk and Cheese First Number Two” #1 (issue #5)/$2.50, 22 pages from Slave Labor Graphics/by Evan Dorkin/available in comics shops and by mail order.
“We are Milk and Cheese,” grins the milk carton. “Most of you already know this … deep down inside yourselves.”
“It’s a place inside your body,” adds the cheese wedge. “An icky, bloody place somewhere close to your lover intestines.”
It’s enough to curdle the milk of human kindness, this cheesy New Wave comic book and its depraved duo that “hates what you hate, and we hate you!”
The feeling is mutual, but hate is too strong an emotion for a talking milk carton and wedge of cheese. Yes, these are the stars of “Milk and Cheese (Dairy Products Gone Bad)” who sneer at their readers under a mask of satire.
It’s a sour mask. This disagreeable collection of one and two page lectures dissect comic book conventions, Halloween, tattoos, fast food restaurants, France, television, and more. Their “satiric” knife is “alcoholism and charismatic violence” dulled by gluttony and obsession.
At least they love their audience!
“ … Morons who should be at work or in school sitting in bleachers obeying signs to laugh or clap like Pavlov’s dumb dogs!” sneers Milk.
“An instantly bought adoring public – a bucket of fools!” rants Cheese.
As in many New Wave comics, “Milk and Cheese” is technically well drawn and written. Why is such talent wasted on fatalistic self hatred?
Why?
So, what should one do with these obnoxious caricatures of milk and cheese? Do unto them as you would to their spoiled cousins. Return them for a refund.
Recommended only for those who enjoy wallowing in self pity.
MINIVIEW: “Aesop’s Desecrated Morals”. A cunning writer connives many (mostly) wonderful artists to illustrate the same gag (parodies of Aesop’s fables) twenty six different times. But a funny joke told once is wretched told twenty six times. Moral: don’t buy this gig in a polk.
