Snowy Shortoff - SHARE IT IF YOU LIKE IT!
I had a great time exploring the areas around Linville Gorge during the second snow of 2015! I had the distinct pleasure of meeting some great new four-wheelin' friends at Wiseman's View, and they were kind enough to ride with me down the rest of old NC 105. Along the way, we stopped a few times to take in the beautiful views of the snow-covered Linville Gorge and were treated to this view of Shortoff Mountain at the south end of the gorge. You can see Lake James in the distance as it meets the Linville River as it exits the gorge. This is Nara, who helps with his family’s sticky rice shop. Every morning before the sun comes up, the family gets up to roll rice into bamboo and then pack them in the end of bamboo stalks. The bamboo is cooked over an open fire. The outside of the bamboo is shaved down to make it look attractive and sold to customers.

This is the actual name of the pool in Yellowstone Park, not me being creative. Although Celestine is a mineral of a very light blue color, it was named after the Latin word for the heavens, which certainly goes along with the beautiful blue quality that seems to mirror the sky perfectly. Although I enjoyed the beautiful pools of Yellowstone's natural environment, the smell was a bit daunting. Sulfur is, for sure, not a friendly smell. © 2011-Current.

Bird on the Pothole Point Trail.
This trail loops around an area of slickrock where there are numerous potholes. These basins in the sandstone retain water after storms. The trail offers great views of The Needles in the distance. The trailhead is located along the Big Spring Overlook road in the Needles District of Canyonlands National Park, Utah, near the end of the road. The trail informs visitors about the little shrimp that thrive in the potholes of the slickrock when they are full of water.
Just a happy little doe, munching on some grass near my house. She was hardly afraid of the road, or people, which is certainly an issue in this part of the world. Too many deer, and people, get into major accidents on the roadways thanks to how populated the deer are in southern New York. Some of these deer survive the crash and live for a few painful weeks after the incident, which is a terrible way to go out. Countless numbers of cars get damaged and injuries are sustained to people as well. As a hunter, despite how many people dislike us, we are used to cull the populations back each year. I can still appreciate how cute those eyes are, but I also see this companion-like ability of the doe as an issue. © 2011-Current.
