perpetual free fall.
looking at the beginning and end of this project, i feel like i have accomplished what i wanted to do. my goal was to practice creating and editing the ideas that had been swirling around in my head for the past few months. i was able to better visualize and create these photographs than ever before.
fun facts:
- the ideas for days two, four, fourteen, and twenty have been floating in my head for upwards on 4 years now.
- tome, day four represents cancer. i share that interpretation only because it is significant to everyone.
- days two, four, fourteen, eighteen, nineteen, twenty-two, twenty-six, and thirty are my favorites because they mean the most to me.
- days three, four, fourteen, eighteen, twenty-one, and twenty-six were shot within about 10 feet of each other
- days two, four, eight, fourteen, twenty, twenty-two, and twenty six came out exactly as i imagined in my mind's eye.
- this project was not only practice for me as a photographer and editor, but also as a model. to epitomize evident human emotion in a photo, i realized that the visual must be dramatized. it took me about 12 tries to get my eyes and hands the way i wanted in day four, and about 50 to get the jump perfectly in day twenty-two.
these photographs mean the world to me because they document my maturation towards my ideal artistic style

no, this isn't me and florian. :-)
sunday night we went to an impromptu dinner party, and one of the couples there had just gotten married this past june. they weren't young -- she was maybe in her late 30s, and he was somewhat older. but their mutual adoration, and simple surprise at having found each other, filled the room like incense. you wanna talk "awwww," you shoulda seen these two. they didn't pose this shot for me; this is how they were sitting. i just sidled up and took the shot, all quiet-like.
PLUS -- get this -- he had actually lost his wedding ring in the rapids of the delaware river. devastated, he went back the next day and dove for it. and found it. pretty neat, huh?
