Ever have one of those images that sticks in your mind, You know I was there it looked like this and you just can't realise that moment with the tools at hand?

Our second night at Cradle Mt in 2017 ( four years ago .. four years ?!), Kylie and I shared a 'magestical' sunset at Dove Lake followed by a star filled evening.

I took this frame with gloaming still in the west - you know just enough to see the far peak and light the foreground enough to work.

I set the Pentax K1 up with the DFA15-30 lens on it .. framed the shot and headed off to the boatshed with the extremely bright LED torch I own (Kylie doesn't do sheds and spiders in the dark - who knew :-) ). Called out to Kylie to press the release trigger then did a whirling dervish in the hut trying not to over expose too much (it IS a very bright torch) and headed back to a great night with the Tassy devils and Spotted Quals @ Devils at Cradle

( devilsatcradle.com ).

Probably once a year since I've used that frame as a test frame for my workflow with what ever software I'm using at the time.

With us being in yet another lock down here I stumbled across the raw file for Cradle again today and thought 'why not' - after a couple of casual hours and a half dozen versions I can safely say that this is the final version that captures that evening - and the last time I'll be messing with this one.

It doesn't have the multicoloured rainbow that seems to be the norm these days - personally I'm not a fan, I'd rather share the moment that I saw and felt.

For the record - the techy bit - 13 seconds at f2.8 ISO500 - Raw developed in DxO Photolab4 and detail enhanced in Color Efex Pro 4 with a couple of final tweaks in ON1 Photo Raw 2021.5 (that boat shed did blow out a tad) and 'jobs a goodun'.

Hope you had a good weekend (as well as happy 4th to those folk in the 'States).

BTW did you know that on a still night a decent 'Cooee' from round the back of the boatshed - echoes for a very very long time at the lake ;-)

I was amazed how agile and determined this honu was, as she tried to warm herself on the sand despite her missing flipper.

The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It's a very mean and nasty place... and I don't care how tough you are, it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently, if you let it. You, me or nobody, is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't about how hard you hit... It's about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward... how much you can take, and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done. --Rocky Balboa

In life, we all face some obstacles and downfalls... The only way to make it through all these hard times is to reach the courage and power inside us and keep going forward!

Have a great day :)

Reaching for the ball and never giving up on your goals :)

I have published a book, or rather, two editions of the same book, one in Italian and one in English, and I'm so excited about it. This is my first approach to publishing and I feel as if I'm throwing myself into the void.

The book is a diary based on the true story of Tancredi, a baby that suffered severe asphyxiation at birth. Writing about him has been one of the most spiritual adventure I have ever experienced. It has changed me more than anything else. It has just reduced the boundaries which, usually, separate one person from the other. It has given me a new vision of life and allowed me to share friendship with all the amazing people who have inspired and helped me through this path.

Now I'd like to share his story of courage and hope with you.

The Force That Moves Us: The Diary of a Stubborn Child

---------------------------------------

When pigs fly is a term that implies hopelessness. I am anti-hopelessness. Nothing and no one is hopeless. When I saw this paper airplane my youngest made, I was glad I handed that undying hope down to her.

I have several dear friends that the doctors have said that the fight against the cancer that has invaded their body is a loosing battle. My sweet friend, Cat, here on flickr is one of them.

I want to make it very clear~ that is not what I believe. I have great hope that she will be healed of this cancer and that she will watch that beautiful boy of hers grow into an amazing young man.

So to my sweet friends that are fighting hard things... whether it be illness battles, emotional battles, relational battles or even the small battles we all face everyday........

Today, pigs fly!

Kindness can only be repaid in kindness, it cannot be repaid with expressions like, "Thank you" and then forgotten.

Thank you to the unknown person who donated blood.....and enough that my baby could receive 4 blood transfusions from the same person. Your sacrifice doesn't go unappreciated. ❤️

The lonely walk back.

I wouldn't wanna be that train.

I'll be back.

The LAST Scene from Pulp Fiction

Caroline had done some reading on her summer vacation. One quote in particular stuck with her.

"All things are posible

until they are proved impossible-

and even the impossible may only be so,

as of now." Pearl Buck

As she worked on the feeder lid, she took great hope from this.

there you are

lying in the dust

along life's highway

twisted mangled broken

scarred

voices all around you saying

"you'll never make it now"

"it's over for you"

you can give in to the voices

or you can

bloom anyway

Is this really where the world ends?

I am hoping for colder weather and thicker ice, but some of our neighbors think that this is "just fine."
