2019P52 28/52: Things With Letters
When I saw this week's theme for my Project 52 Flickr group, I immediately knew what my photo was going to be.
This little worry stone is very special to me.
In April 2013, we lost our 35 year old son to brain cancer. Bill fought hard for ten years and was an inspiration to everyone who knew him. His mantra was "Never give up". And he never did.
A dear friend of his had these made and provided them to everyone at his memorial.
Never give up!

-The Croatian Slogan in World Cup 2018
When Croatian manager Zlatko Dalic was sat in his press conference after seeing his team beaten by France in the World Cup final, he was asked by a journalist from Georgia what message he has for other smaller countries who might hope to follow in Croatia’s footsteps all the way to the final of another World Cup somewhere else down the line.
“On our bus is the slogan, ‘Little country, big dreams’, it’s a good message to all,” Dalic said. “In football, or in life in general. Never give up.”

It's not my own idea sadly. I don't know who made this draw in first but I loved it so much that I wanted to do it myself and write some words with from Eluard : "Sur les champs sur l’horizon, sur les ailes des oiseaux, et sur le moulin des ombres, j’écris ton nom [...] Et par le pouvoir d’un mot, je recommence ma vie. She's been on my personal "Grail List" for years....and after 10 years of collecting Fashion Royalty, she's finally here!
Cannot count the auctions I've missed...or been outbid in the last 10 seconds...or just couldn't afford back then.....so this is a mega-thrill for me.
Patience & persistence does pay off!

Refuse to entertain your old pain. The energy it takes to hang onto the past is holding you back from a new life. What is it you would let go of today?

I think I'm looking at this shot as a reminder to never give up, no matter how much unpleasantness I have to go through. (personal stuff) I hope it helps you in some little way today too. KEEP GOING!!!
