Well that's the last time I ever try to go to a show at White River Amphitheater. We had tickets to see No Doubt and Paramore, and we didn't even make it into the show after 40+ mins on the shuttle up there and waiting in line in the hot sun for awhile. Apparently "the tour" decided not to allow chairs for the lawn at the LAST MINUTE. So even though the White River website said that chairs were allowed, in the end they weren't. We borrowed chairs form a friend and didn't have anywhere to leave them, so we said "fuck it" and went back home. Not to mention the lines to get in were a complete cluterfuck and it just all seemed really poorly managed. Never again!

This is the reason (well one, anyway) why I haven't been very active on Flickr lately. Several months preparing home and office for my impending gimpyness. Now after six years, ALL the hardware (except for one washer) is OUT of my leg and in a jar on my mantle instead. Woo hoo!! Got the staples out today (can't call me Frankenleg anymore!). Four more weeks and I can throw away the crutches. Hopefully with no more chronic pain. And no more broken bones. EVER!!!

Manzanar War Relocation Center was one of ten internment camps during WWII. Many of the people sent here were native-born American citizens. They were not spies. They were not saboteurs. They were not criminals. They were not prisoners of war. They were not foreign agents. They were held prisoner here for no reason other than their Japanese heritage.
Manzanar is located just outside of Independence, CA, about half way between Reno and Los Angeles along US 395. The remains of the camp are now a National Historic Site, which is open to the public and free. There is a museum about the Japanese Internment of WWII and life in the camps. A self-guided auto tour will take you through the site of the camp.

During a recent visit to Corangamite Ged Kearney visited workers at the Bulla Dairy Foods factory in Colac. Cindy Throckmorton, NUW delegate, discussed with Ged workers fears that the Coalition would bring back WorkChoices. While she said that relations at the factory with management were positive and the NUW was a strong union presence on site when she spoke to workers, fears about what the Coalition would do on industrial relations came up regularly.
My Dodge Dakota at the Great Lakes Lighthouse Museum. Almost all of the 100k+ miles I've put on this truck are due to our romps across and around the state of Michigan. It's just about time to retire him, since the A/C is out, the heater core is clogged, and his trans is acting up again. (he's on his second one) If you see this truck on the road, wave "Hi", but get out of the way. I drive like all get-out.
