C'est au-dessus de la base aérienne d'Istres que le démonstrateur européen de drone de combat Neuron vient de réaliser aujourd'hui une "première mondiale". C'est en effet la première fois dans l'histoire de l'aéronautique mondiale qu'un appareil furtif contrôlé depuis le sol évolue en public.
Assurée par le Centre d'essais en vol de Dassault Aviation, la présentation a duré une quinzaine de minutes. Après le décollage, le Neuron a été rejoint par un avion de combat Rafale et un avion d'affaires Falcon 8X. Les trois avions sont passés en formation à 150 m d'altitude et à 350 km/h au dessus de la piste d'Istres, "permettant à des milliers de spectateurs de les voir à moins de 400 mètres de distance".
La réalisation d'un tel vol, préparé par les équipes de Dassault Aviation avec la DGA et l'armée de l'Air et réalisé dans un volume très contraint "représente une véritable prouesse technique et de pilotage", souligne le constructeur français.
