WTF? Seriously, i was complaining that facebook was acting like the moral police. They wouldn't let me be in a complicated threeway relationship with toast and bacon. Bah!
THEN i started seeing this ad:
"Curious Girls. The new social network for lesbian girls. Check it out."
SERIOUSLY! WTF?! i'm taking serious notice because it hasn't been removed yet. is it targeted ads? cuz i don't talk smack on facebook. aside from coworkers reading about my life, there are children on facebook.
---
addendum:
i am not judging anyone's sexuality. be who you are. swing any which way you like. i am judging facebook and their decision to be hypocritical and questioning their morals. i think it's wrong because of the way they worded the ad. there are many kids who spend time on facebook and will think it's cute. IF and i say IF they worded it to the effect of "do you think you're gay and need more info?" no questions. i'd be fine with it.
i am judging this on this ad itself and in the context in which it is done.
----
addendum #2
can someone tell me where you got the link to this pic? thanks.
----
addendum #3
so it isn't a link. this is the #1 "relevant" flickr search result for "lesbian"?

Upgrades since last photo includes a new NAS with 10G SFP+ interface. The old Buffalo NAS is now used as an rsync backup destination. I also installed 2 19u rails to push out the bottom half of the rack by 6cm. This allows enough depth for NAS installation in bottom half and plenty of room for wire management in the top half. I think its done for now...
There are 4 main subnets in my home network:
Main - Green cables connect all main subnet components. This includes a 24 port 1GbE switch and a 12 port 10GbE switch connected via a 10GbE SFP+ cable. This is the main network of my home connecting all computers, printers, wifi APs, Media Players, and a Synology RS3614xs NAS with 9 WD 3TB SE WD3000F9YZ HDD which acts as the media server and file server for all computers in my home. This NAS and computers in my study are on the 10GbE network.
Guest - Yellow cables connect guest connections to half of a 24 port 1GbE switch. Yellow cable also connects the guest VLAN to the main network access points. This subnet is isolated from the rest of the network.
Surveillance - Blue cables connect all video surveillance equipment to a 16 port 1GbE POE switch. This includes wiring for 10 security cameras and a Synology RS814+ NAS containing 4 WD 4TB SE WD4000F9YZ HDD. Currently have 8 HIK Vision security cameras running, 5 DS-2CD2032-I 4mm bullet cameras and 3 DS-2CD2132F-I 2.8mm dome cameras.
MODnet - Orange cables connect 4 set top boxes to the WAN through a 5 port 1GbE Switch for China Telecom Movie on Demand Internet TV service.
Interweb - Red Cables are outside of my network, which includes connection to the modem and the community network.
Concerning the photo, its another version using the 35mm Cron. Lit with two flood lights through umbrellas from front top and bottom, reflector at right side, and backside lighting with a 100w quartz halogen through umbrella. The shot is an overlay of several HDR tonemap images over an exposure fusion from a 4 shot 1EV step bracket.
One of the famous landmarks in the "City of Stars" is the GMA Network Center, the main headquarters of the Kapuso network.
This structure was started to erect in 1996 as part of upgrading the network's old facilities and finished in 2000 as the station was celebrating its 50th year in the broadcast industry. Notable events happened on that building such as the rebranding of then "Rainbow Satellite Network" to today's "Kapuso Network (Kapuso Mo, Anumang Kulay ng Buhay" at the top of GMA Network Center. Aside from that, a monument was installed on the facade of the structure and it was sculpted by Eduardo Castrillo in the same year (2000) depicting the network's leadership in the television and radio broadcast industry.

These are the connections between the switches and patch panels *after* they were cleaned up considerably.. It doesn't look too much different today (3.5 yrs later.. ) but most of the connections are defunct as our production systems have moved to a real data center.
Really interesting visualisation by Nexus: view interactive version
I've added some notes explaining the clusters. They're remarkably distinct.
* The left cluster is personal, the right cluster is work.
* There are 3 sub-clusters in Personal, and 4 sub-clusters in Work
* Jared connects both personal and work clusters. He connects with both Wheel/LBi (where he and I used to work) and Isotoma (where I currently work), and he and his wife became good friends of ours.
* Besides my wife and my brother, there are virtually no family members in the graph. They're not very wired.
* I've lost touch with nearly all people I knew in school, and most of those I knew in uni
* I tend to add only people I know fairly well in real life, and very rarely clients
Nexus also shows you what you have in common with people in your network (Interests and Groups), ordered by the number of similarities. In my cases mostly Interests since I don't tend to join Groups. (Interests are fuzzy and unreliable.) Interestingly, the person at the top of my similarity scale is one of the outliers, Mary, whom I only know through Flickr.
Would love to see something like this for Twitter. TwitterAnalyzer is similar, but does not do the same kind of clustering. Also want this for Linkedin and Flickr

I was going to title this one "working the room" but thought that might imply something less than honorable so I'm not going to call it "working the room"
I can't recall where this illustration came from. It might be a detail from a magazine story or possibly an ad. Going thru some old stuff and seeing what I've saved.

The loco began her long service with British Railways in 1965 as E3190 but was renumbered to 86210 in 1973 under TOPS and took the number 86902 in 2004.
Like all good things that come to an end , she was withdrawn from the Network Rail Fleet in 2014 and laid unmolested at Booth's Scrapyard in Rotherham for two years until the cutter's torch was lit up in 2016 to prepare for dismantling in her 51st year.

Maybeshewill - Not for Want of Trying
Everybody knows things are bad. It's a depression. Everybody's out of work or scared of losing their job. The dollar buys a nickel's worth, banks are going bust, shopkeepers keep a gun under the counter. Punks are running wild in the street and there's nobody anywhere who seems to know what to do, and there's no end to it.
We know the air is unfit to breathe and our food is unfit to eat, and we sit watching our TVs while some local newscaster tells us that today we had fifteen homicides and sixty-three violent crimes, as if that's the way it's supposed to be!
We know things are bad - worse than bad, They're crazy! It's like everything everywhere is going crazy, so we don't go out anymore. We sit in the house, and slowly the world we are living in is getting smaller, and all we say is, 'Please, at least leave us alone in our living rooms. Let me have my toaster and my TV and my steel-belted radials and I won't say anything. Just leave us alone!' Well, I'm not gonna leave you alone!
I want you to get MAD!
I don't want you to protest. I don't want you to riot - I don't want you to write to your congressman because I wouldn't know what to tell you to write. I don't know what to do about the depression and the inflation and the Russians and the crime in the street. All I know is that first you've got to get mad! You've got to say, "I'm a HUMAN BEING, GODDAMNIT! My LIFE has VALUE!!"
So, I want you to get up now. I want all of you to get up out of your chairs.
I want you to get up right now, and go to the window, open it, and stick your head out and yell: "I'm as mad as hell, and I'm not going to take this anymore!!"
I want you to get up right now, sit up, go to your windows, open them and stick your head out and yell - 'I'm as mad as hell and I'm not going to take this anymore!'
Things have got to change. But first, you've gotta get mad!... You've got to say, 'I'm as mad as hell, and I'm not going to take this anymore!' Then we'll figure out what to do about the depression and the inflation and the oil crisis. But first get up out of your chairs, open the window, stick your head out, and yell, and say it:
I'M AS MAD AS HELL, AND I'M NOT GOING TO TAKE THIS ANYMORE!
