A rare London foot crossing

This occupation crossing over the freight branch to Angerstein Wharf was recently going to be closed. A bit mean as its been there since 1852 and provides a short, convenient and pleasant route from an area of housing to Westcombe Park station.

However they seem to have now backed down. I believe Sir Peter Hendy got involved in the row.

A rather flimsy looking gate has been installed at the foot of the steps on both sides. Perhaps this is to satisfy 'Health & Safety' who insisted it must be gated.
