WRITE HOME: ACCIDENTS HAPPEN! Poor little avatars hide behind poor little avatars! Avatars ab/use! Avatars don't need air! You can't weigh them! They don't know the meaning of the word! THESE avatars don't know anything! They're weighed down by coordinates! They can't fuck! Their prims bend, smash! Smashed prims are prims. Hello, hello! Video and performance spewed from a laboratory of virtual environments. IN MY WORLD, THERE ARE NO ERRORS, ONLY SEDUCTIONS!
The human figure's place in art gets turned inside out here in this world of unfolded and refolded geometries. What remains of the body in the domain of the virtual? What survives the transition? Could this still be called a body? Where are we going in this crossing over into bits, why are we going there/nowhere and what does it say about the nature of human desire? At what point does a beautiful accident become a tragic mistake? Is there truly such a thing as a mistake?
A pioneer in virtual worlds and networked environments, Alan Sondheim brings his latest work to Odyssey odysseyart.ning.com/, an international community of artists working on 2 servers in the networked 3d virtual world called Second Life. An autobiography of Sondheim's career as an artist can be found here www.alansondheim.org/COMPBIO.TXT

I was wondering what would happen if I shot in the HDR mode with my S95 BUT did it while hand-holding the camera and turning it at the same time the camera made the three HDR exposures. Here's one of the results.

Sometimes an unpopulated beach is one of the greatest gifts. It is undisturbed. It is bare. It is shiny, which makes for some pretty crazy reflections. And then the dog runs through this scene and sand is flying and dog tracks are everywhere. But again, that is part of the magic that is an unpopulated beach.

Looking north... Netarts Bay is on the right. Three Arch Rocks National Wildlife Refuge in the distance. The previous shot was taken from the same vantage point just a different lens.
Clamming at Netarts with Jim, Bell, Jake, and Jason. Great day at the beach for March. Or really any other time of year.

A nice way to see more of the beach I bet but I wouldn't want to try to keep the rust under control. Maybe with rental bikes...

This location is (per sign) the "Netarts Bay Shellfish Reserve", where commercial and recreational taking of clams is prohibited. It is just for research by universities and federal and state agencies. That being said, it seemed that there was definite interest in people on shore from a pinniped or pinnipeds. Very focused interest, with eye contact. We wondered if they wanted to get fed. Certainly the regular fish seemed to be plentiful - a couple of guys were out on a small boat and surrounded by seagulls.
We have out here the likelihood of California Sea Lions, Harbor Seals and (also possibly) Steller's Sea Lions. "Looks sealish" to a number of us but I cannot be certain - we didn't get a look at anything other than their heads popping up like this.
