Nerds To Go Computer Service, Cars, 8/2014 Branford, CT, by Mike Mozart of TheToyChannel and JeepersMedia on YouTube
Sprites drawn on paper (circa end of the 80's). Some were copied from the TV screen from other games, others created by myself.
Most have the corresponding decimal/hex written on the page to be later used with source code.
For all those international folks who haven't seen Nerds candy, this odd creation is made from a chewy candy center with various flavors of Nerds stuck all over it. (If still confused, see large size.)
I'm such a mess : P
los lentes de sol eran del luccas :)

Just happened to pass by here yesterday and ran into this guy, James C., aka NERD working the wall in Logan Square.
For the last day of work at gericks the staff decided to dress up like nerds in honor of me. It seems Because I fix all the computers around the shop I am known to be "Nerdy". Well it sure made me laugh, best last day of work ever!
One of my husbands comic books. This one is from 1994. He owns about 8000 comic books some of them are about 80 years old, before comic books were comic books. I learnt everything I know about comic books from him. I could listen to him talk about the X-Men for hours!
I am a huge tech nerd and proud of it! Also I think Nerds are hot. My favourite celebrity nerd is Rivers Cuomo from Weezer.. he is hot!!
Also I love the sunset I got behind me. We have had some beautiful ones here lately.

So when my little redhead came into my last class of the day wearing the "Geek Squad" shirt I really had to laugh!
Only lighting again in this one is just natural light through a north-facing window.
Revenge of the Nerds (1984). At a big campus, a group of bullied outcasts and misfits resolve to fight back for their peace and self respect. Starring Robert Carradine, Anthony Edwards, Julia Montgomery, Curtis Armstrong, John Goodman
Okay, I didn't want to REALLY have things in focus OR show what a disaster area my desk is, but you can see that I AM a total nerd, running two monitors- I'd be running 3 if I had the space on the table right now, but there is also a scanner, a digital turntable, a printer, as well as the other things I find "necessary" to run our small network! :)
I do a little email and check Flickr while Ken gets ready for bed.
Time frame: 10 - 11 PM
Shots done for the Jules' Photo Challenge Group- per the challenge:
The June challenge is to tell the rest of the group the story of a day in your life. You can pick any day this month-what ever works best for you as long as all your pictures are posted by the end of the month. You're probably wondering just how this is going to work, right? Well, let me tell you. :)
On the day of your choosing, you are going to take one picture every hour that you are awake (from the time you get out of bed in the morning until you go back to sleep that night) The pictures do not need to be taken right on the hour, just within that hour. They all do not need to be taken with the same camera or even by you. (Yes, you can get help for this one.) HOWEVER, if you are not the one behind the lens you better be the one in front of it! (You know what I mean!) Use your collection of pictures to show and/or tell us what you did throughout your day.

A response to How to get along with geeks: A seven-point guide by Bronwen Clune (@bronwen). A slightly edited version should appear in the comments.
"... #2 You’re in the Windows or Mac camp ..."
Don't know about this one. Where's *nix or BSD?
Windows users are either using a *work* laptop or require specific Windows software. As for the *cult of Mac* don't be fooled by these users who are really using higher quality, but over priced hardware with BSD Operating System. [0]
"... #1 You can ask stupid questions ..."
Nothing will generate more heat in geek culture than non-geeks, newbies or other geeks asking a *stupid* question, then requiring an instant answer. What geeks really mean by *stupid* is a) "have you looked for the answer in the FAQ, read the HOWTO or searched google, *before* asking me?" [1] then b) "the answer is obvious" but left out the fact you require a degree in CS/EE or to have been using computers before they could walk to understand the answer.
" #1 '... most do not hold a deeper general knowledge than your average citizen. They appear to know a lot courtesy of Google. Most questions can be answered by a simple Google search' ..."
Distractions suck. If your geek mates/co-worker appear to be giving you canned responses from Google, they probably are. Maybe because they think the asker of the question should have done some homework in the first place. The statement also mis-represents geeks strengths in knowledge. Geeks strengths are technical depth not pop-culture breadth.
Try searching Google for the finer points of "language compiler optimisations" or solutions to problems "debugging objectiveJ" to understand what I mean. There should be a bit of give and take here. You get to understand things by learning. Learning takes hard work. The mental equivalent of doing push-ups or lifting weights. No pain, no gain. But what happens if you don't have enough knowledge. Where do you start? Google? Ordinary users are probably not used to the mental gymnastics required to absorb the volume and frequency of technical information thrown at them. So stupid questions for geeks/ordinary users is and will be a potential flash point. Are the nerds and geeks, bullied in High School replaying what happened to them at school?
A change in geek culture is needed here. It's happening, but slowly. The "social software" movement is sort-of changing this as geeks liberated from their cubicles get together with ordinary users to build companies. Ordinary users shouldn't be intimidated by geeks when asking questions. It's bullying in another form and shouldn't be tolerated.
"... #4 You get South Park and Star Wars quotes ..."
Everyone knows geeks hang out on alt.nerd.obsessive. [2] [3]

Thanks so much to the organizers, volunteers and sponsors of Nerd Camp this year! I had an amazing time and it was wonderful catching up with old friends and making new ones. These are some of the photos I took during the event, mainly of people I met rather than the talks (I often had trouble getting into the latter since the rooms were often super-packed, so I left it to others to take better pics :-).
Feel free to share/repost any of these photos, especially in support of Nerd Camp. Please include a photo credit when possible (a tag is fine, or my name: Debbie Ridpath Ohi) -- thanks! On Twitter: @inkyelbows (twitter.com/inkyelbows). On Instagram: @inkygirl (www.instagram.com/inkygirl/). Already counting down the days until next year’s event!

Nerds To Go Computer Service, Cars, 8/2014 Branford, CT, by Mike Mozart of TheToyChannel and JeepersMedia on YouTube
In the midst of the third major rebuild of my homebuilt desktop computer. With a new case, motherboard, and CPU, by now the only parts remaining from the original build I did in 2006 are the mouse and the speakers, thanks to the new motherboard's lack of legacy connectors for the floppy drive and DVD-RW drive.

I've been wanting to build my own Nerdly from Bricknerd.com for a while now and I'm pretty happy with how he turned out. I used the standard instructions, but reworked it to fit a large ball socket inside so he can tilt forward/ backward. I also used small ball sockets from the Mixels for the wrists, hips, knees, and ankles. DSCF1530
