Ink negative prints

Maha Malluh is a Middle Eastern artist who works with photograms. ‘Merwed’ the collection I took inspiration from take objects from his studio to create photograms. However I did not work with photograms but with the inking press so that I could gain the textures from the objects. I stuck with found objects and in the process made a set of images that looked as though they were negatives of inside peoples bags. The work became intermit as they felt like others belongings are scanned to identify them.

The Fay Thomas Collection includes family archives relating to the Thomas family. Moses Thomas (1825-1878) was a significant figure in the history of the area now known as the City of Whittlesea, Victoria, Australia. Moses and Ann and their family lived at "Mayfield", Mernda, near Whittlesea, Victoria.

DOUBLE NEGATIVE, SOCIALCIDE, GOVERNMENT WARNING, BORN BAD, DEVOUR, LOGIC PROBLEM

Ignore the exif data that claims this was taken with a 5d. This was taken with a mamiya 645 pro tl w/80mm f/2.8 lens on tri-x 400 b&w film. Then developed with diafine. After the negatives dried, I put them on a lighttable and photographed them with the 5d for cropping and inverting. (Sue me, the 5d is better than the scanner I have, at the moment : )
