My subject was using negative space to create a word (flower) using pictures/objects that share a common theme with the words (in this case, I used flowers). I believe this is a strong project because you can clearly see the word "flower" spelt out with negative space. Also, the layering of the flowers I picked make it seem like all the flowers are almost connected, making it one smooth piece. I also spent days using scale and rotate to make sure the flowers are placed in the correct spot to make it as simple and neat as possible. This is one of my favorite things I've made because I put a lot of hard work into this.
The Fay Thomas Collection includes family archives relating to the Thomas family. Moses Thomas (1825-1878) was a significant figure in the history of the area now known as the City of Whittlesea, Victoria, Australia. Moses and Ann and their family lived at "Mayfield", Mernda, near Whittlesea, Victoria.
