teddy needs a hug ...
ok, so theres quite a story behind this ...
firstly i promised to upload a photo for my friend dapnipako's birthday she works hard to keep me actually uploading things on here as i tend to keep my photos to myself.
secondly i was inspired by a photo i spotted in the strobist pool and was planning to do something like it myself ... but being short on gear and not having much success i started trying other things (i will go back to it eventually) ... still with the blue as a theme ... i ended up with the teddy
strobist: my usual two yongnuo yn460s and cheap wireless triggers were used, almost on the same plane as the teddy pointing directly at him (though slightly in front, pointing towards him) the one to the right of the picture is unmodified the one to the left is using two bluray disk cases (really must get hold of some cheap gells) shot at 1/200 f10 ISO100 with my ef-s 60mm macro lens.
post-processing: i managed to catch some of the terracotta coloured patterned carpet with the unmodified flash so i lassoed and underexposed that area until it was no longer visible, other than that a little exposure and contrast tweaking and some cropping (he was originally taking the full height of the shot)
This little cutie needs a home.
This past weekend, we heard a meowing in the garage. It took awhile to find the source of the sound, but we eventually found it under the hood of the truck.
When Todd grasp it to pull the kitten out, it bit him and scratched him. A natural reaction for a scared, wild animal trying to protect itself. Since we live in the country we figured it was born in the wild and had never seen a human before by the way it acted.
We also noticed that it had an injury on it neck. We put it in a cage with food and water. It would hiss everytime someone came near. So I started putting the cage next to me when we sat on the porch so it would get used to humans.
My what a difference a couple days makes! When I got home from work on Monday Stella and I decided that we would make an attempt to hold it down and treat it's neck injury. So we got our long sleeves on, got out gloves, a towel to wrap around it to prevent scratching and a towel to put over it's head to prevent biting. To our surprise, we got it out of the cage without incident. It was very calm wrapped in the towel. It appeared to want to be held. We did not have to cover his head. We cleaned his neck and put ointment on it. He actually started to purr. We noticed a hole under it's jaw. Todd came out and discovered that the poor kitten had a Bot Fly larvae in the hole. He got it out with a pair of tweezers. It was huge! The poor kitten must have been in some pain.
For the rest of the evening Stella and I took turns holding him while he purred and napped.
You can see he is really calm sitting here on Stella's lap.
He needs a home. I can not keep him as I have 2 dogs and Todd does not like cats. We guess he is about 8 to 10 weeks old. We think it is a boy but it is hard to tell at this age.

Update: Kitty is adjusting well. He loves to be held and to sit on your shoulder. He is very sweet, loving, and purrs alot.
We still need to find a home for this little cutie.

Needs new tubes, brake pads, and probably cables - but it shifts and is a super comfortable ride. The saddle has independent suspension for each cheek. (It's a 1968 Schwinn Racer.)

This is a picture of the house in slidell before it got flooded. As you can see on the tv. He says the dome is open for "special needs" That does not mean a shelter for every one in NO. There was a mandatory evacuation. It is sad that allot of people ignored that.

The room was splashed with an assortment of enchanting colors as women in beautiful saris scurried around, completing the final touches for a fundraising event. Formerly from India, these women now live in the USA. Yet they remain concerned for their native country. Upon hearing about the financial situation of a Christian school for autistic children in India, they not only heard the need, but they also took it to heart and responded.
Nehemiah did not allow his comfortable position in life as cupbearer and confidant to the most powerful man at that time to nullify his concerns for his countrymen. He talked to people who had just come from Jerusalem to find out the condition of the city and its citizens (Neh. 1:2). He learned that “those who survived the exile . . . are in great trouble and disgrace. The wall of Jerusalem is broken down, and its gates have been burned with fire” (v. 3).
Nehemiah’s heart broke. He mourned, fasted, and prayed, asking God to do something about the terrible conditions (v. 4). God enabled Nehemiah to return to Jerusalem to lead the rebuilding effort (2:1-8).
Nehemiah accomplished great things for his people because he asked great things of a great God and relied on Him. May God open our eyes to the needs of those around us, and may He help us to become passionate and creative problem-solvers who bless others.
Father, there are great needs all around us. We choose not to give in to despair or apathy, but look to You for help in doing the task at hand.
Those who walk with God won’t run from the needs of others.
I printed last night for the first time in two weeks -- I was painfully slow. Only one color (red, obviously) completed in a time span during which I can usually do five. But I did it.
I was also very messy. I am going to go put on my bag and shower now.
Edited: Ink gone. Kinda sad... between that and the cast, I looked much tougher than usual.
