While visiting my daughter in Findlay, OH. My granddaughter captured me and took me out to do night photography without a tripod. We found this abandoned house needing some repairs and love under the street light.
Earth Designs Garden Design and Build were asked to created a landscape and propose garden design in Bishop's stortford, Essex here are the details of the project.
The Modern Famiy Garden in Bishop's Stortford, Essex
BRIEF:
The clients had lived in the house for a few years, and had undertaken considerable refurbishment on the interior of the property. They had a large family garden which needed to accommodate two children and a very active black Labrador. A block of flats had recently been built next door, leaving the clients feeling very exposed. They wanted to break the garden up into a series of smaller areas in order to create a more dynamic space
SOLUTION:
The clients had an existing block wall that retained the second upper level of the garden. Costly and difficult to remove, we decided to make a feature of this wall by rendering it to allow it to be painted to a colour of the clients’ choosing. The client also had an extremely large area of paving outside the back door, which was larger that actually required, so the design broke this space up using soft organic curves and spirals that bisected each other in large sweeps across the space. We also broke the large area of hard landscaping up by using three different types of material to create interest – two types of sandstone paving for the area directly outside the patio doors with a broad section of mint fossil sandstone sweeping from the integrated seating area wrapping around the side of the house. We used the existing wall and extended it further back to create an opportunity to include some railway sleeper seats and table. Planting in the space consisted of strong architectural plants interspersed with feathery grasses nestling alongside long flowering perennials.
TESTIMONIAL:
Everyone has watched enough television to know that some garden designers pursue their own vision at the expense of what their client wants. A truly talented designer listens to their clients' vision and is able to marry this with their own inspiration and flair. Earth Designs fall squarely into this latter category. Within a couple of hours of meeting us, Katrina had sketched the first draft of her final design; over the next few days she refined this, and transformed our half-baked idea into a beautiful, practical and elegant garden.
We are absolutely delighted with the design and finish. We would thoroughly recommend Earth Designs to anyone; whatever your budget or the scale of your garden.
If you dig this and would like to find out more about this or any of other of our designs, please stop by our web-site and have a look at our work.

Husky Mark III 2G 2 Seat Prototype
The Husky Mark III/2G 2-Seat Prototype responds to the immediate Warfi ghter need to mitigate the risks of
task overload on the Husky operator, increase the Route Clearance Package’s (RCP’s) ability to fi nd
and neutralize IEDs, and provide direct fi re capability for the lead vehicle of the RCP. The Husky Mark
III/2G 2-Seat Prototype transportation kit allows for the platform to be transported with air assets in a
roll-on-roll-off confi guration, thereby increasing the readiness level and, at the same time, decreasing
the logistical footprint and logistical costs of maintaining the equipment in the theater of operations.
Additionally, the Husky Mark III/2G 2-Seat Prototype provides enhanced Soldier protection, protecting
the Army’s most valuable asset—the Soldier.

Soldier Wearable Integrated Power Equipment System
The Soldier Wearable Integrated Power Equipment System, or SWIPES, utilizes the MOLLE vest and
integrates force protection electronics and communications equipment with an advanced battery power
source. The use of BA-8180/U and BA-8140/U Zinc-air batteries for direct power of equipment allows
for extended mission times without the burden of power source swaps or power source charging due to
their high energy density. This combination can extend operating times of communication systems and
surveillance equipment for search and rescue operations. The SWIPES allows for individual tailoring by the
Warfi ghter and is designed to accept new applications as they become available.
Green Eyes – Escalation of Force Kit Integration with the CROWS System
The Green Eyes kit enables leveraging the widely used CROWS weapon system to provide enhanced
threat deterrence and force protection. Green Eyes provides the capability to switch on and off multiple
auxiliary devices, such as an infrared pointing laser or a green ocular disrupting laser, on a rotating
turret, and provides the operators the capability to control these items without physical contact on the
rotating assembly. The new technology provides Soldiers with the ability to apply the level of force that
is proportional to the threat, and will help in reducing the number of civilian casualties, as well as increase
survivability of our troops.
Jackal Explosive Hazard Pre-Detonation System
The Jackal is an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) Defeat system designed to remove the threat of IEDs
against Soldiers, tactical vehicle platforms and overall mission success. In 2010, ARDEC developed and
fi elded Jackal to Soldiers throughout Iraq to help counter roadside bombs. In particular, Jackal neutralizes
the lethal IED threats putting Soldiers at risk during route clearance and convoy related missions.
Jackal functions to keep Soldiers outside the IEDs area of lethality and increase the survivability of vehicle
platforms. Unlike its predecessors, the Jackal is designed to be modular and adaptable to new and
emerging IED devices. Therefore, the Jackal provides signifi cant capability to the Soldier and their mission and,
more importantly, saves lives.
40mm Infrared Illuminant Cartridge, M992
The M992 Infrared illuminant cartridge is fi red from a 40mm Grenade Launcher system and is designed to
provide illumination in the near infrared passband. Its objective is to enhance night operation capabilities of
troops equipped with currently fi elded night vision equipment while producing minimum visual signature
outside of the infrared passband. The combination of its capabilities enhances the use of night vision
equipment to detect and identify targets while minimizing the disclosure of friendly troops by those lacking
the above night detection devices.

M240L 7.62mm Lightweight Medium Machinegun
The M240L is a lightweight variant of the M240B 7.62mm Medium Machine Gun, providing system
performance equal to the M240B at a signifi cantly reduced weight. The M240L machine gun weighs 22.3
pounds, which is nearly 5 pounds lighter than the M240B machine gun. This was accomplished through
the use of titanium in the receiver, a re-profi led barrel and lightweight grip assembly. The system has two
quick change barrels, a fi xed buttstock and an integral bipod. This system allows increased mobility and
survivability, while also allowing Soldiers to carry more ammo, thus increasing fi repower.
Mortar Fire Control System – Dismounted
The 120mm dismounted mortar system provides indirect fi re support in an easily managed and rapidly
deployable capacity towed behind a High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle. The system includes mortar
fi ring operation Command and Control enhancements and increased accuracy, survivability and speed
of employment of dismounted mortars. By using advanced technology, computer automation and digitization,
the MFCS–D equips each dismounted mortar system with the capability for precise weapon pointing,
precise position/navigation and situational awareness. The MFCS–D reduces time to fi re fi rst round from 8
minutes (day) and 12 minutes (night) to less than 2 minutes for both day and night.
5.56mm M855A1 Enhanced Performance Round
The M855A1 Ball, also known as the 5.56mm Enhanced Performance Round, utilizes a new
bullet design with more environmentally friendly materials that has resulted in several signifi cant
enhancements over the original general purpose M855 fi elded in the early 1980s. The new round
excels at soft-target consistency, hard–target penetration and the extended range at which it maintains
these performance improvements. Other enhancements include improved accuracy, higher velocity,
reduced signature and a de–coppering agent embedded in the propellant to maintain barrel life. Once
fully implemented, the M855A1 will reduce the amount of U.S. Military Lead Pollution worldwide by up
to 2,000 tons of lead annually.
RG-31 Robot Deployment System
The increase of roadside bombs in the Afghan theater presents the need for a low-cost and light–weight
solution in transporting and deploying route clearance robots in combat. The TARDEC RG–31 enables
our Soldiers to comfortably transport, deploy, and operate road clearance robots from the protected
area inside the vehicle. The RDS kit allows for Route Clearance units to utilize the full range of robotics
capabilities without having to physically unload and deploy the equipment out the back of the vehicle by
hand, exposing them to enemy threats. The RDECOM–TARDEC RDS will have a positive impact on how
Soldiers transport, deploy, and engage roadside threats in combat for years to come.
...Come over here
All you got is this moment
The twenty-first century's yesterday
You can care all you want
Everybody does, yeah that's okay
So slide over here
And give me a moment
Your moves are so raw
I've got to let you know
I've got to let you know
You're one of my kind
I need you tonight
'Cause I'm not sleeping
There's something about you, girl
That makes me sweat
How do you feel
I'm lonely
What do you think
Can't take it all
Whatcha gonna do
Gonna live my life...
After all the busy vibrant colors, I will need a retreat to my black & white.
This is the Roseline Sturdy Amphitheatre in UBC Botancial Garden.
This is a great piece of architecture. In the opening on 19 June 2010, there is a performance of Shakespeare's Twelfth Night here.
I copied some info from the web about the theatre here.
The design of the theatre was inspired by the popular amphitheatre in the Scott Arboretum at Swarthmore College, Pennsylvania, and looks very similar.
Have a great day!
NOT MY PHOTO. I really need this fig.... If anyone has this that's going to brickcon2014 I will trade or buy it off you! also I want both verions the darkblue and normalblue. WILL ONLY TRADE OR BUY AT BRICKCON UNLESS iT'S A REALLY GOOD DEAL.

I need to thank Gary Ladd for the vision and inspiration for this photo. Gary is one of the masters of Grand Canyon Photography. I had seen his photo from this vantage point and I decided I would like to try to recreate it in my own humble fashion.
Cheyava Falls is the tallest waterfall in Arizona - beating out Angel Falls, Seven Cataracts and Carr Falls. On the World Waterfall Database Cheyava also rates as the highest in Magnitude and Aesthetics in AZ. www.world-waterfalls.com/database.php?s=T&t=G&cat...
Cheyava cascades from the North Rim on the southern end of the Walhalla Plateau north of Honan Point. Often the Falls are merely a wet streak on the Canyon Wall. But in the Spring after a wet winter as the snow on the North Rim melts, Cheyava Falls become truly impressive - cascading 800 feet down the Redwall Limestone. The longest drop is about 400 feet, then it cascades another 400 feet through a brushy slope and into Clear Creek. Thick foliage keeps you from reaching the base of the falls. Seeing Cheyava Falls flowing strong is high on the list for avid Grand Canyon Hikers.
Ellsworth Kolb named the Falls. www.grandcanyonhistory.org/09.html "After the USGS river trip in the summer of 1923, Colonel Claude H. Birdseye suggested that Ellsworth give it a name, preferably of Indian origin. Ellsworth supposed the water flowed only intermittently, and he suggested Cheyava, a Hopi word meaning intermittent river, " [25]
