Things have gotten bad and I NEED YOUR HELP. As you know I have been battling Lymes and two co-infections since I was bitten by a tick last April. Since then I have undergone countless seralogical, radiological, and physical tests. The prognosis is not good, the diagnosis is still waning. Last week another rip in my abdomen sent another tack racing for freedom. After 15 phone calls to Georgetown we got an advocate to help track down what the heck is going on... It turns out that surgery is no longer an option as my body has degenerated too far. Surgeons are worried that I might not survive the surgery or that I would be twice as bad as when I began. My right side is either numb or buzzing, my thoracic spine is degenerating, I have a number of rips in my abdominal wall, metal and mesh are rising, two are protruding. I can barely walk, talk (without gagging), eat, sleep or find any amount of pain killer to take it away.
On Tuesday I see my first nuerologist to schedule a spinal tap. Hopefully the fluid from my spine will give a clue as to what is going on... I will be honest, I am scared. I also feel completely helpless as our family goes deeper in debt and the list of to do's seems to get longer and longer. I am still awaiting disability am not receiving unemployment, due to my inability to work, and have run aground in all metaphors. PLEASE HELP. I have spent the week researching the best printer in the nation and have built an Etsy to sell my photographs... I know that we are all broke, and I HATE asking for money, so please take the time to visit my shop and make a purchase if you can. ALL profits will go to medical bills and food...

I was inspired for this one with a trip I took to the shops today. If you're from the UK you'll know that we've had a heatwave the last week.
Women all over the country are going to have to abide street harassment this summer for dressing weather-appropriate. Not to mention the rest of the year when we cover up and still get heckled.
The "I need feminism" project is a series of people holding up signs and stating why they need feminism. That is what inspired my photo, and information on the project can be found here:

Another project completed. This time is was the bathroom ceiling. My sister and I painted the walls the day after I moved into the house. We were just too tired to do ceilings!! Got rid of the semi-gloss sheen on my ceiling and now have a fresh brilliant flat white to help the bathroom seem brighter!
I had always thought of this puzzle and Montana de Oro as a set because I think the cat is the same one in each puzzle, and had looked forward to putting them together. I've had copies of each for a few years.
It's not a great picture but it's the best I can do with my small camera and the lighting where I am.
This puzzle has one missing piece so it was cheaper on ebay than the others. I do have a complete copy.

The Alfred Mizzi Foundation donates computers to aid literacy
Hundreds of adults and children have acquired today’s much-needed computer literacy skills through courses organised by the Jesuit-run Paulo Freire Institute (PFI) in Żejtun. This week, The Alfred Mizzi Foundation donated eight new HP computers and monitors to PFI, a much-needed and most welcome upgrade to the existing set-up offered by the institute.
Amongst other services, the Paulo Freire Institute offers literacy tuition to vulnerable adults through the ‘iċ-Ċavetta’ literacy programme, an award-winning Maltese literacy toolkit for adults, where computers are also used to make the learning process more interactive while imparting computer-based skills in the process.
Fr Vince Magri, the Jesuit director of Paulo Freire Institute, thanked The Alfred Mizzi Foundation for their continued support in kind, an invaluable asset for the organisation, since thanks to these computers, the iċ-Ċavetta course can be taught more efficiently. The computers will also be used for basic computer courses offered to hundreds of vulnerable adults and children.
Fr Vince extended a word of thanks to all those who supported the fundraising campaign in 2013 for the reprinting of the iċ-Ċavetta toolkit through their monetary donations, while announcing that the target has been reached. The textbook sets will be printed in the near future, giving the opportunity to 1000 Maltese adults to overcome illiteracy. Fr Vince said that the next project would be to to make the iċ-Ċavetta toolkit accessible online.
Mr Antonello Gauci, a trustee of The Alfred Mizzi Foundation, said that it was a pleasure for the Foundation to donate these computers to PFI because the Foundation values the Paulo Friere Institute’s work and contribution within the community. He said the Foundation was happy to offer a tool that would not only be indispensable for the iċ-Ċavetta literacy training courses, but would also be a means to educate people in computer literacy.
Mr Tony Abela, a volunteer at PFI who also teaches basic computer classes there said that over four years, more than 200 people have attended these basic computer classes, which have been of great benefit to society since today the majority of jobs require computer literacy.
Also present at the event were Mr Albert Petrocochino (The Alfred Mizzi Foundation trustee), staff and volunteers of PFI, and Ms Carmen Mamo, co-author of the iċ-Ċavetta literacy toolkit.
Our back garden gate is needing to be repaired or renewed! I think replaced and renewed!!

This is just about the only grading needed for your average pair of trousers. But don't skip this step, although it feels (to me) a bit tedious. The waistband will look and feel great.
Grading is easy: simply carefully clip all layers to different lengths. In order from foreground you see the inner waistband, pants, and outer waistband seam allowance. In general we leave the seam allowance that faces the public side of the garment, the longest.
Be careful with grading as a frayable fabric should not be clipped too close, or should perhaps be serged or finished. In this case I know the linen will be fine clipped, in it's most extreme, at a generous 1/8".
This photo is part of a tutorial on how to adjust fit for children slimmer and/or taller than the fit model. The tutorial is for Figgy's Patterns' Banyan pant pattern, but the principles will work well for any flat or pleated front, back-elastic pattern.
