Thats my MacBook Pro (the model isnt me, its a friend of mine). I just love my laptop. I couldnt live without internet, you know? Im so used to it, to chatting, talking with friends, posting in forums, uploading new posts at my website, editing my Photographs, etc.
Computers and Internet are a must today. Telephone, letters, newspapers... Everythings is being left being. Not saying its good though.
Mixed CPR and CNR stack evident in this view of my train travelling Eastwards through Ontario. From Jasper to Winnipeg my coach became the last on the train and I was able to have the whole rear open balcony to myself as mine was the last sleeping suite. It was far too dusty to stay long unfortunately and each visit was followed by yet another shower. June 1979.

On May 27th, Colombia votes in the first round of a pivotal presidential election. Driven by voter discontent with the government of President Juan Manuel Santos and distrust of traditional political parties, the field is crowded with scores of candidates from across the ideological spectrum—most running as independents. Polls show the election is fluid and wide open.
Still, behind the unsettled horse race is a set of pressing and serious challenges. Colombia’s next president will have to find a way to fight corruption and organized crime, stem the growing tide of coca production, jump start economic growth, and effectively manage the difficult implementation of the peace accord with the FARC. Perhaps above all, the country’s once solid political consensus is badly frayed; what are the prospects for reducing polarization in Colombia and achieving greater national unity and purpose moving forward? For a discussion of the country’s main challenges, the Inter-American Dialogue is pleased to welcome a distinguished panel of Colombian analysts and political figures.
As applicants sought U.S. immigration visas, private American relief agencies formed networks of rescue to aid as many refugees as possible. They helped refugees navigate the U.S. immigration system, explained the required paperwork, located potential financial sponsors, purchased ship tickets, and, for those fortunate enough to enter the United States, assisted with Americanization, employment, and housing.
Dustywing: family Coniopterygidae, order Neuroptera; related to the lacewings. This tiny little thing (2.3 mm) landed on me at the bug light. I was totally clueless on this one. Finally, a BugGuide search on "tiny winged" turned up a single match.

ODOT staff recently gathered in Bend to attend Commute Options first ever “Walk and Rollabout” event. This event was created to help us learn from people with disabilities on how they navigate and experience different features of our transportation system. Since we are the ones often designing the features, this was a fantastic opportunity to brainstorm how we can design our system to ensure that it works best for everyone.
Spring mechanism, coin slot, ten melodies, Poupart, Ciocca, Mancier; Reims, France, 1900
By the end of the nineteenth century, music boxes and other automatons were already widely used, devices that could imitate musical instruments as well as the human voice. At about this same time, the first mechanical pianos and organs were invented. They were operated by hand by turning a crank, mounted on the front of the instrument, that was extended by a screw inside. At the beginning of the twentieth century, music machines became automated: a spiral spring motor (as in alarm clocks or phono- graphs, only larger)—wound with a crank and then triggered by a coin—operated the so-called barrel piano. At the appropriate time, one of the 20,000 or 30,000 nails or pins attached to a wooden cylinder actuates a hammer, which then strikes a piano string to produce the desired sound. Each nail or pin represents one played note. The barrel piano exhibited here comes from the collection of the Mechanische Klangfabrik in Haslach.
