Both brown anoles and green anoles reside in my yard. I can't say that they coexist because the brown ones only started showing up a few years ago, while the green ones have lived in the area as long as I can remember. The brown ones in my yard have become more numerous and the green have been reduced to a very small area among the greenery of some tropical shrubs. Here I have several different brown anoles and one green anole. Green anoles can change color ranging from pale green to dark brown, almost black. They have pale cream colored bellies and mostly solid color (unpatterend) upper and longer snouts than the brown anole. Brown anoles can change color to blend, except only with the range of brown shades. Portland, Texas October 2017

This pretty blue flower came up in the yard, probably from a pack of mixed flower seeds I had spread out earlier in the spring. One of the few truly blue flowers that grow on our place. Many of the flowers called blue appear to be more purple to my eye.

The thistles died so beautifully that I had to keep them.

Went around with the camera to find interesting subjects covered with morning dew. Flowers just seem to look very pretty all decked out in sparkling drops of water. These are all wildflowers growing on our property during March 2019. In Montell, Uvalde County, Texas.

A member of the sparrow family, these small birds only come through our area during migration. There are distinct regional differences among members of the species depending on where they are found. I think this one is known as the slate-colored variety. A pretty bird and one that I seldom see.

This juvenile male was showing some attitude as he posed on a small twig- then he got an itch that caused him to fluff out his neck feathers.

Juvenile golden-fronted woodpecker. A male, based on the hint of red you can see on top of his head. He was at the bird bath getting a drink and the parent birds were in nearby trees calling out to him. This species seems to stay in family groups longer than some other species of birds.

These caterpillars were eating the leaves off my parsley growing in the garden. I think they are black swallowtail caterpillars. There were many of them and the parsley did not last long. I will need to plant more of it next spring to ensure we have enough to share.

On a ranch near George West, Texas. Lots of noisy green jays here. Green jays live in family groups and youngsters stay with their parents to help with the next brood of hatchlings before moving on to form their own family groups. Interesting behavior. There tends to be one always on lookout from a high perch and this makes it hard photograph them unless you can find a spot to hide and wait for them to show up.

This youngster was busy exploring my yard and enjoying the goodies in the various bird feeders. He posed on a leaning mesquite tree.

We still had plenty of wildflowers blooming in November. This one is a type of salvia commonly called blue sage or mealy sage. They are very similar and I'm never quite sure which one. The butterflies like it.

My favorite butterfly image from Big Bend National Park. These thistle were blooming in various locations and the butterflies were attracted. This giant swallowtail was very accommodating to a portrait session.

I found quite a few yellow-rumped warblers (Myrtle) in Rockport, Texas at a wetlands nature park. They were enjoying a nice sunny, yet cool, day.

It's always interesting to me when you focus on something in front of you...sometimes the things in the background become more beautiful. Hope you have a wonderful Wednesday. HBW!

One of the resident green kingfishers. It seems to have gotten adjusted to me and will pose for photographs. In Montell, Uvalde County, Texas
