Louisville & Nashville Railroad 40514 at Nashville, Tennessee on August 24, 1982, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. This was shot from the Melrose Avenue overpass at the north end of Radnor Yard. This car was loaded with new brake shoes. Workers stationed at the orange chutes ( one on each side of the car ) would pitch the new shoes into the chute as the car moved through the yard, depositing the new shoes on the ground for car knockers to use as replacements for worn shoes on freight cars.

A Brighton Beach-bound (N) train races out of the open cut and onto the embankment of the Brighton Line, approaching Avenue H.
Due to switch replacement work on the 4th Avenue Line the past two weekends, (D), (N), and (R) service between Atlantic Av-Barclays Center and 36 St has been suspended. (N) trains were operating in two sections: from Astoria-Ditmars Blvd to Brighton Beach via the Brighton express, and from Coney Island-Stillwell Av to 36 St via the Sea Beach. There were numerous railfans and transit buffs out these past weekends to catch the uncommon occurrence of (N) trains on the Brighton Line, and weekend Brighton express service.

PERSONAL FUN FACT written by my sister: Back around the time when I was in eighth grade, a seller at our local flea market was selling a 1978 Dream Furniture Dining Table and Chairs. We fell in love with the table. It was missing a chair so it would be easy pulling Becky's wheelchair up to it. It ended up making a great kids' table, family table, and study table later. We knew we were going to buy it. Shelly also bought a Pretty Surprise Barbie (Jenny) wearing a 1994 Babysitter Skipper outfit. When we went to buy our table, there was a blonde 80s Skipper sitting on one of the chairs. I thought she was pretty cute. A few months later, I got really into Skipper and kept thinking about the doll. I waited and waited, then I despaired of ever seeing the doll again. I believe nearly two years went by when the seller, and the doll, returned. That doll I pined for for such a long time is Sonya. She is in the center of this photo. I've had her since 2003 (I believe I initially saw her in 2001 but I could be wrong). When I tracked her down at last, to my delight, there was another Skipper there--my 1994 Babysitter aka Adrian. I played with Sonya and Adrian all the time after I finally found her. I am really glad I did. Thinking of all the times that I passed up a doll and hoped to see her again in which the doll "got away," I was very fortunate. She is very special to me.
I bought "Sandy" the doll on the right from the same seller I got one of my Hawaiian Funs, my first Pizza Party Courtney, and a Party 'n Play Todd from summer 2011. I'm actually not sure if she or Megan (Hawaiian Fun) came in the fashion pack that Megan is currently wearing. While I had the bathing suit that Sandy is sporting in the photo for a very long time (I think I got it in 2011!), Sandy wore a Teen Sister of Barbie fashion instead for a long time. This swimsuit is quite ragged and, from the time I found my doll on the left until we found the suit Sonya is wearing in 2016, Sandy didn't wear it. Then, since I'd finally found a third swimsuit, I decided to dress Sonya and Sandy in the bathing suits at the same time, giving Sonya the slightly nicer one.
I never named my girl on the far left. She's the first doll we bought, I think, from the seller that we bought Perfume Pretty Barbie and many others from in the early 2010s. She gave me a great deal on her. Having a brand new one is a dream come true! I like the lay of her bangs because you can really see her gorgeous face!
Souvenir de Rose Pierre de Ronsard (Geneviève Persoglia)
Une rose m'a dit: Regarde
La couleur tendre de mon velours,
Ma pureté que rien ne farde,
Je suis belle sans nul secours,
Ma clarté jamais ne s'éffondre
Je suis l'idéale fraîcheur...
Une rose m'a dit: Aspire
Mon parfum qui n'a rien d'égal,
Que l'Univers entier respire.
Ne cherche point chez un rival
Odeur qui puisse correspondre
Rien n'équivaut à sa vigueur...
Une rose m'a dit: Contemple
Ma bonté se laissant cueillir;
J'ai fait de ma corolle un temple,
Quiconque vient s'y recueillir
N'aura jamais à s'y morfondre
Je lui donne un baiser de fleur...

Detail of a swinging door, worn with use over time, directing patron traffic to the left side. Hey, aren't we driving on the right side? Logical?
Seen at the grocery store at Kong Lung Center in Kilauea, established in 1881 by a Chinese businessman who catered to plantation workers.
Perhaps my favorite hamburger chain got its name from here?
Anyway, this is what the French would call a "porte pelée" and the Germans "eine speckige, abgewetzte Tür"...
