Today's story and sketch "by me" you see one of Santa's
helpers here at the Taos New Mexico Nut"N"Honey moon pie
bakery, picking up a load of moon pies Santa will be
delivering on Christmas.
The first pine trees in this area were planted by
Twoneedle gofish, a famous intergalactic explorer from
the blue moon "Lippo". It was many hundreds of years ago when
he was visiting Earth planting pine tree seeds, when he
came upon a beautiful Indian maiden, named Laddona who
was walking with her pet goat. Laddona was not at all
afraid of the four foot tall grey alien Twoneddle.
But she was curious about the seeds he was planting on
her patch of ground, given to her by her x husband an
Indian brave known as shortfeather. At the time it
seemed to friends and family a rebound romance her
falling in love with Twoneddle.
But it all worked out, and they were happy for many moons.
Every fall she and Twoneddle would walk along
with their goats and gather pine nuts. Then Laddona would
make Twoneddle his favorite snack, the Nut"N"Honey moon pies.
Their children's children are today still making the pies at
the same Pine Nut & Honey Moon Pie Bakery.
Don't you just enjoy a happy ending, until next time

MT-271 (MA-186) / OXFORD & PICTOU / (train) 333 / DE 9 / 41 / R.P.O. / - CDS (RF D / 215) ties GVI 3c Mufti on cover to Amherst, Cumberland County, Nova Scotia.
On November 28, 1887, a branch line from New Glasgow to the town of Pictou was opened, giving it direct railway access. In 1890, a line between Oxford Junction and Pictou was finished and two years later the Oxford & Pictou R.P.O. service was initiated. R.P.O. service to Pictou Landing ended shortly thereafter. OXFORD & PICTOU R.P.O. Type 17H, One Hammer
Proofed: November 22, 1935
Earliest: October 12, 1936 (?)
Latest: 1944 (?)
Indicia: 333, 334 - equally
Usage: Continuous throughout
R.F. - 100 / 215 / RF D
Comments: In use, this hammer followed M-93 and preceded M-93A, without any apparent overlap. Strikes are usually clean and clear. Interesting indicia on this hammer - an inverted 333 on July 4, 1937.
In reviewing the OXFORD and PICTOU runs just presented, it appears that there was never more than one hammer in use at any one time; for all six hammers, there apparently was no overlap:
1891-1902 M-90
1906-1913 M-91, Hammer I
1916-1917 M-90
1917-1925 M-91, Hammer II
1925-1935 M-93
1936-1944 M-92 / MA-186 / MT-271
1945-1959 M-93A
If there was only one hammer in existence at any one time, then based solely on the size of the R.P.O., all hammers should have the same rarity factor; however, since the scarcity of the stamps also is applicable, then some differences in rarity factors is appropriate.
