"The third of three magnificent business cars ordered in the 1920's from Pullman which were the acme of the then car builders art. #100 Airslie was delivered 5/29/1926 at a cost of $81,592.03 (lots of money for 1926) and assigned to the Board Chairman Henry Wheeler DeForrest (with offices in New York). The car was regularly stationed on the private car tracks of the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York while the Board Chairman's offices were in that city. DeForrest had the car named for his family's hunting lodge in Scotland, "Airslie"

Another Walk in the Park with My Shadow.....
Lunchtime... Winter... Sunshine...

OUT FOR A WALK WITH MY SHADOW...
I DISCOVERED NEW ZEALAND IN A PUDDLE...
CAN YOU SEE IT TOO...?
Last Month I entered and had accepted this diptych for the North Shore City Art Awards
67 works were accepted for the exhibition, of which 11 were photography.
I shot these images last year... when my Shadow and I were on crutches...
And we came across this puddle in the car park where we live.
I couldn't help thinking it looked like a map of New Zealand!! %-)
The exhibition finishes tomorrow and I found out today...
That mine has actually sold! So that was a double bonus! %-)
It was relatively warm when the sun came up this morning but now that it has disappeared behind the mist it’s gotten chilly again. Shizandra saw something very interesting behind me.
With the newly renovated track and synthetic turf field, the colors were really vivid on this sunny late summer evening. Hence, I noticed my really cool shadow standing out. I'm tall, but this really accentuates it a bit!

Out with my Shadow and her Reflection
For the December Diary Project...
I've often noticed the light in our entrance way...
It reflects some wonderful shadows at difference times of the day....
In the evening it catches the sun on the other side...
In the morning it catches it on this side...
and that of the lovely cabbage trees too!
My shadow and her reflection have been wanting a visit here...
In fact... they got carried away and did a double take on this one...
Here is the original! %-)
Here's a flashback to December 28th 1991...

Out for a walk and a bit of fresh air at lunch-time today...
And my Shadow decided to join me!
She was drawn to the lovely swirls and colours in the rocks...
She always enjoys a stroll along the beach...
Especially on days like today when she's got a bit of a foggy head...
Blows out the cobwebs and brings back a fresh burst of energy...
We much prefer the cool crisp air of a sunny winters day...
To the harsh humidity of an Auckland scorching summers day!
To help shake the blues of facing another afternoon of work! %-)
I wanted to find a music link with a little 'rock' theme for my shadow...
And thought of one of my bluesy favourites...
Trouble is there are a number of good versions...
from a number of my favourite blues artists!
So I thought ahhh... What the hell...
I'll put them all up and you guys can take your pic! %-)
Nothing like a bit of the Blues to get you out of the blues...

Hello Everyone, I have been tagged by one of my contacts ( BlueSaffronSky), and although I wouldn't consider talking (or writing) about myself to be one of my strong suits, I will give it a try....
1. I was born on Jan 1, 1963 at Laredo Air Force Base, Texas, and had my picture on the front page of the Laredo newspaper for being the first baby of the new year.....yep, my 15 minutes of fame were in the first 24 hours of my life! ; )
I lived in 4 states (Texas, Florida, New Jersey, and Indiana ) by the time I finished 1st grade.....I'm usually reserved and quiet ( wonder where that came from?).
2. Although I have believed in a higher power for a long time, I have only recently come to believe in Jesus Christ, and that he died for me. I know that there are other religions, I respect them all, but this is the one I believe in. There are signs of His presence everywhere, you just have to be open to receiving them......and faith can move mountains!
3. My father was a dairy farmer by day, and an airline pilot (TWA) by night, so I learned how to be a chameleon......I could fit in almost anywhere, with anyone! But now, I'm getting old enough, and I've been around construction workers long enough that I'm getting a little out of practice....
4. I have reached a point in my life, where I can see old age coming in the distance.......Therefore, a couple of years ago, I decided to fight it off as much as possible, and changed my habits.....got rid of the bad ones ( Copenhagen and Mt. Dew ) and replaced them with good ones ( Cycling, running, and Water ). The Copenhagen one in particular, I started while attending college (Purdue)......I enjoyed it for about 5 years, and then it took another 20 years of dedicated trying, to quit.....can't tell you how hard that was (and still is, over 2 years later)!
If any of you know someone who has given up a tobacco product.....tell them all the time how happy you are that they quit...... believe me, it is wonderful to hear, and your praise might be the one little thing that keeps them off of it for another day!
5. I loved playing (American) football ( I was a defensive back )......there was just something about putting those pads on and playing, my team...... against yours. It felt a lot like being a gladiator, only nobody dies...
I still miss it, 25 years later...
6. Before I look at an unfamiliar persons photostream, I almost always like to read their profile...... usually gives me some insight that adds to the viewing.
7. One of my favorite things to do, is to be in the woods, watching the sunrise and listening to the wildlife while the wind blows the cedars around and rustles the leaves on the trees....even better, add a light rain to the mix.....I can hear it now!
If you sit still long enough, the woods will come to life before your eyes!
8. I love to watch movies! Especially, comedy and action/adventure ones......even a girl movie from time to time......please, don't tell anyone I break that man law....
9. I found, through many tough years of looking, the perfect woman to marry! She puts up with my moods, and everything I do wrong ( and believe me, there can be a lot )....at least she has to this point, anyway! ;-) (17yrs.)
10. Although I'm a little old for it, I have two heros: John Wayne, because I have the feeling he didn't take any crap from anyone..... and Lance Armstrong...... his cycling accomplishments are unmatched, but I mostly admire his mental determination.....when he sets his mind to accomplishing something, it's going to get done!
Bonus Track.... I have two favorite quotes .... The first is by Confucious, "Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall."
I don't know who came up with the second one, but it holds true nonetheless, "Whether you think you can, or can't, you're right!"
If you are too busy or don't want to play, I'll understand.....it isn't for everyone, but I tag: Akfirebug

Adventure in Seeing #24 - Meaning
To feel fulfilled and to give true meaning to my life, I need to be out in nature, to walk every day, to get out of my apartment and feel as if I am part of the Universe. Living in a town makes me seek out nature even more. I like to feel the soft ground beneath my feet, see the plants, hear the birds and get away from the roads and the urban noise. Nature heals me.
Or was he just covering his eyes to protect them from the sun?

Friday October 7th 2011
Last Friday Ted and I took some time out from work in the afternoon...
We wanted to pay our respects to our Dear Flickr Friend Cat...
At our special Bench in Churchill Reserve that we dedicated to her in March...
I was pleased to see my Shadow join us to pay her respects too...
It was the day of Cat's Memorial Service in the UK.
We may have been on the other side of the world...
But our thoughts were with Cat and her Dear Family James and Nathaniel. XO
i'll be back tomorrow to catch up with you all...
Am still a little under the weather which is why i've not been around much lately...
January 2011

My Shadow's been wanting to catch up and wish you all a Happy New Year....
So here she is.. sending you a little wave... %-)
Sorry I've not been around much this year yet...
Had a bit going on and a few other distractions...
But hope to be back into the full swing of things again real soon! %-)

Day nine of the December Diary 2010 Project. Taking a photo a day following the Alphabet...
I couldn't let the month go by without including my favourite I-sland... Rangitoto
It dawned on me today... I is for Island! So it was the perfect choice!%-)
Many of my friends know it is my favourite of Auckland's Landmark...
"The youngest of the islands in the Hauraki Gulf, Rangitoto emerged from the sea around 700 years ago in a series of volcanic explosions. Rising to a height of 260 metres the circular island presents the same uniform appearance and is visible from most parts of the mainland. Rangitoto's name has been translated to mean the day the blood of Tamatekapua was shed, relating to a major Maori battle at Islington Bay about 1350. Rangitoto is an icon of Auckland city."
I love it's magestic silhouette and presence...
It always give me a sense of tranquility and calmness...
Especially after a hectic or stressful day...
The photo on the left was taken in a late lunch break @ 2pm...
The one on the right after work @ 6pm.
My Shadow and I like to spend time here when we can...
Enjoying our surroundings... In quiet I-solation...
