This was a last minute shoot to get some promo photos done for a bbq event. I only had my e-p1 with me that day, so I thought this would a great chance to try out the E-P1 strobist style (which is why I bought this camera to begin with). I've been pixel-peeping with these photos since I took these shots, so I'm sharing them for anyone else that's interested in this camera!
All of these you see here are unedited from the camera. The only one in B&W was converted in post-processing because the highlight detail was clipped from overexposure. My thumb rolled across the thumb-wheel by accident and opened the aperture up too much by accident while activating the shutter. I utilize the back-button focus custom function on my E-P1, so it is easy to hit a whole bunch of other buttons in the process.
Lens: Kit Lens 14-42 3.5-5.6

ISO: 100 and 200
Aperture: f5.6 and f6.3

Radio: All fired via PW Multimaxes

This photo was taken on a photo shoot for a client at work. The job was done by a great photographer, Sebastian Ludvigsen. Since I always bring my E-P1 with me, I thought it was fun to grab a couple of shots with only the modeling light (E-P1 can´t trigger the strobes). Not the best quality, but I like the lighting. (Which was done by Sebastian).

Only a few hours ago I heard about the sudden death of Marsha Ellen Meidow (that's her on the left with her mom on the right)... I knew Marsha as a promoter of the arts here in Calgary, a skilled charity event organizer most notably known for Femme Fatale... She also worked with troubled youth with great vigour and passion, to keep them off the streets and out of trouble...
I just received this in my e-mail shortly before posting this photo...
"It is with great sorrow we must inform you Marsha Ellen Meidow has slipped away and begun another journey. Her spirit shall continue to dance, our memories of her will make us smile and her light will shine within each of us.
Join us in celebrating the Life of the Legendary Marsha Ellen Meidow. We know that Marsha has touched the lives of so many. Everyone is welcome to attend this event. Please know that she passed peacefully without pain, surrounded by her family and love ones. This event will begin at 4:00PM on Sunday, January 10th at The Republik - 219 17th Avenue SW (The new location for the Republik). There will be testimonials, readings, dancers, songwriters and bands. The line up of artists will be posted soon. It will be Potluck. Comfort food of all kinds is welcome. Be it vegan, alberta beef or organic, we would greatly appreciate any and all contributions to feed the masses. Plates, napkins and cutlery will be provided. There will be a Guest Book - Please be sure to write a special message to Tank and Marsha's family in the Guest Book provided. Share your memories and loving thoughts. There will be a Photo Album - Please print off and bring in any/all photos you may have of Marsha as we would like Tank and the Family to take home a Photo Album compiled by Marsha's friends. Scrapbook supplies will be provided, feel free to bring your own. "

Nothing is working today. Primarily, the computer is not working today, so that even when I got my non-working brain to work and finally got some work done and went to send it, my e-mail screen turned into a solid gray block. I went to post a blog and it turned solid black. I tried to comment on a friend's blog, gray. Grr. For some reason, the only sites I can visit are the Yahoo homepage and Flickr. I can't even pull up a song or get myself good and angry while validating my own intelligence by watching bigoted morons be moronic on Youtube. (Yeah, I do that.) And then my son decided to pick a huge fight with me about whether he is required to button his own pants. Double grr.
Plus, I got a grand total of three hours' sleep last night, and three-and-a-half the night before. So I'm just dead freakin' tired right now. Like, I keep fantasizing about sleeping on every surface -- desk, car dashboard, stove top -- that I happen to pass. I zoned out with my son and watched Wolverine and the X-Men (if you have to be subjected to cartoons, parents, this one's not too bad), and he decided to tickle me, and I got all startled, like really startled, and angry.
Yeah. Today as a parent/writer/human being = FAIL.
So here's a bright happy picture to counter that. This, plus having come in from an hour of backyard baseball with David, is improving my mood if not my productivity. I will attempt to repair the computer after putting my son to bed, when I can say all the dirty words I want and not feel bad. Hopefully then I can post the backed-up blog posts I have, whereupon I will post pictures to pimp out my work shamelessly promote myself link to them.

Serra de Santana (RN), 9.dez.2023 - "Many neighbors are trying to sell houses and land but can't. No one wants to have this neighborhood," complains Jorge Costa in his backyard, where he can see and hear the two wind turbine towers that now occupy part of the family's land, just under 200 meters away from the house where his sister lives with their father, who suffers from Alzheimer's. He fled to the headquarters of Tenente Laurentino Gomes as soon as the turbines began operating.
This is the first update in my E-Reader collection in months, and I'm so lazy with this collection since the only other time I bought E-Reader related stuff was in a huge gameboy lot over a year ago.
My Bloody Valentine (1981) Reunion screening
May 21, 2009
Rue Morgue magazine put on a one night only screening of the original Canadian slasher "My Bloody Valentine" (1981) as part of their monthly Cinemacbre screenings at the Bloor Cinema in downtown Toronto.
This was the very first time the film has been seen UNCUT on the big screen and a number of cast and crew were on hand for this very special one night only screening/reunion.
Cast and crew in attendance included:
George Mihalka - Director
Neil Affleck - Axel
Lori Hallier - Sarah
Alf Humphreys - Howard
Paul Kelman - TJ
Paul Zaza - composer
Bob Presman - Line producer
Following the screening the cast and crew did a Q/A and autograph session ( which can be seen here: www.youtube.com/user/TheGoremet )
This was a once-in-a-lifetime experience for fans of My Bloody Valentine, and if you haven't seen the Original film (not to be confused with the 3D Remake) be sure to check it out on DVD.

Working on a creating a Cow Calendar as a surprise for my bestest friend who loves cows. It's a Christmas surprise ... so far I've decided (I think) on these photos. Once the calendar is complete it will be available for sale in my e-sale with 100% of the Artist Commission being donated to her for the purchase of food / litter / medical supplies for her foster kitties. Plus she'll have the calendar to give her smiles throughout 2013.
Luckily she doesn't use the computer much - so it's not difficult to keep this secret from her!

I promise to take a better photo for you M!

I met Frank for a quick after-work wander downtown. Frank gave me some playtime with the Panasonic Lumix 20mm f/1.7... thanks, Frank! Now, I just need some playtime with the Olympus 17mm f/2.8 pancake before I decide which tiny lens I'll pick up for my E-P1. Chinatown, Vancouver. April 21, 2010.

On the way into work I had both my E-1 w/12-60mm and E-3 w/50-200mm in the shotgun seat nestled next to a half-dozen DeLites I'd picked up the day before at Whole Foods. It is indeed a good Friday, at least for me. I happened to look down with the indirect light coming in, and said, why not a photo? And they said "Sure."
Originally taken in Raw, it was processed to JPEG within the E-P2, then moved straight out of the camera.
