The Good Friday Tornado that ripped through my home of Murfreesboro seen fro the air. The Tornado, an EF4, cut a path over 22 miles long, half a mile wide, and over 30 minutes on the ground, through the city and countryside. It missed my house by one block. Most everything around our home is destroyed.

The windows - different shapes and sizes- draw attention to this 1896 house built for Murfreesboro jeweler William R. Bell. The elegant oval staIned glass window beneath the neoclassical porch is overshadowed by the projecting palladan window on the first floor, above which are paired arched windows with keystones.

On the roof, an elaborate round window, finials, cresting, and towering chineys add to the picturesque quality of the house.

Well, I had surgery on my back yesterday and was fast asleep by 10pm CST last night. My wife was hard to get to sleep for whatever reason and didn't make it into bed until around 4am this morning. Around 5am, we got slammed by a line of severe thunderstorms that moved through the area slowly. They seemed to have taken forever to move through! Then, this afternoon, another round of thunderstorms bore down on us like a train that just won't stop. Oh well, such is the life in the southern US in the Summer eh? I managed to drag my sorry butt out of bed long enough to capture this view off our front porch of the approaching thunderstorm.

The Stones River is barely a stream right now. The soil in the forefront of the picture is where the river normally is.
