This good-sized (17 mm) rove beetle (fam. Staphylinidae) is one of many that have tried to bite me. This one actually hurt and I think you can see why, I had another large rove beetle (Platydracus) in the white bucket along with this one for the photo shoot and their difference in behavior was striking. The Platydracus immediately began running around looking for an escape route, then shot its wings out and tried to fly out of the bucket. This beetle, on being emptied out into the bucket, took at least a minute to survey its surroundings, When it had finished it walked slowly around exploring things. If I touched it or moved my multitool near it for a measurement shot, it would open its mandibles threateningly but wouldn't run. Cosanga, Napo, Ecuador.

This was my first new pocketknife that my parent's bought me when I was 7 or 8. I used to take it on all my adventures.

Somewhere along the line it got superglue on one scale, which warped and popped off. I found it a few years ago, and then a couple of weeks ago, I was reading the SAK forums on Multitool.org and found a place to get replacement parts...so I decided to do a bit of restoration.

Multitools have X amount of uses. As many as your imagination will allow.

Plus they open quite nicely into an X shape.

Using my multitool, the swiss army knife, I made a cut into the end of one of the sticks. This way I could put one of the other sticks in there and make kind of a foundation.

first public concert at the Archipel, Paris. SIngers-Composers and musicians Sanseverino, Tina-Rose, BadBadBird (bass) and Aurel (drums) gathered under Multitool55 for a new french rock project. Just fresh, great.

All Multitool knives are corroded or absent,. so the knife-blades have to be conjectural. This is a cheap steel Spanish kitchen-knife that I cannibalized, because it seemed about the right size and shape. Of course it's much better steel than any Roman steel.

For 7 Days of Shooting - Tools - Still Life Sunday

In a hurry to take yesterday's still life I got the settings wrong.

In an attempt to rescue the overexposed result I made this.

I rather liked it...

Now that I've seen the other pictures I don't like it half as much ;) They are great!!!

Oh, and a serrated spork. || Photo info: Taken 2013-12-28 with Canon EOS 5D Mark III, EF100mm f/2.8 Macro USM, ¹⁄₃₂₀ sec at f/8.0, focal length 100 mm, ISO 200. Copyright 2013 .
