I had this pencil box when I was little, but it was orange with a white ruler top. The pencil sharpener is a bit rusty on this one, but still neat.

classic example of comment spam you'll get with 24hrs if you forget to disable comments on "your page" on a ning business social media network !

it takes 5 clicks to disable comments (+50 keystrokes to add a comment why you've disabled them) , +10 to enable privacy and + 20 to disable spam emails !

multiply that (35) by 100 ning bmn and smn networks and you need a lot of clicks to lock down your ning account !

As I discussed in my blog post for this week, I wanted to try to capture the look of someone hiding within the photo (hence the camouflage theme). Matt Harris was kind of enough to lend me his jacket and I shot a small section of it to get the general scheme. I set up a studio in my backyard with a white blanket and some chairs to hold it up and then had my brother sit in front of it and pose. I initially had a little trouble with the angle of the sunlight creating shadows over his eyes, so we came back later to try again, but I ended up actually liking the shadows better.

For editing, I boosted the contrast a lot on the portrait shot to essentially remove any texture or color from the background or his skin, leaving just the darkness of his facial features. I also used Photoshop to refine the subtler lines around his cheeks a bit and eliminate some shadow from his neck. I added a layer for the camo shot (which didn't really require any editing) and set a multiply blend, then played with the opacity to determine the right level for allowing the camo to dominate whiteness while keeping his features prominent. I was largely able to stick to my original idea and I'm really pleased with how it turned out.

The magician shows a pair of adult foam rabbits. He explains one is a daddy rabbit and one is a mommy rabbit. He takes one and puts it into the spectator's hand which is closed into a fist without seeing what is in the hand. The magician puts the other rabbit into his own hand, but when the hand is opened, the rabbit has vanished...and when the spectator opens her hand, there are two rabbits in there. The rabbit from the magician's hand has apparently transported into the closed fist of the spectator. The effect is repeated, with the same results. The third time when the trick is done, when the spectator opens her hand, not only are there the two adult rabbits, but there are also six baby rabbits!

Putting the kissbots together is a tedious task. Parts include transducers, solenoids, tiny microphones, receptors, a spring system, and lots of wires.

The installation is "Public Display of Affection" and can be explored this coming October 3rd in Cabbagetown. Map: cabbagetownnuitblanche.files.wordpress.com/2009/09/post-c...

Kissbots are a single-minded, single-use bot. We have to work hard for them, applying lipstick, setting their catch, making the kiss sounds that light them up as they count to the prime number that triggers them. And then? They fall over, adding a kiss print to the collective array, generating a paper output of all that work.

Why do we work so hard for them? Because they can do what we Torontonians cannot: kiss in public. Lips by Pearl van Geest, circuit by David Ogborn, soundscape by Neil Wiernik, bots and installation by Hilary Martin. Bring your kisses, Toronto.

DEVELOPMENT: And How the Miracle Multiplied

NEW DELHI, Mar 27, 2010 (IPS) - Most of these women had never known what it is to have the dollar a day everyone speaks of. And last year, they were seen as good enough between them to be lent a billion and a half dollars.

MultiPly

(September – October 2018)

London Design Festival has collaborated with Waugh Thistleton Architects, the American Hardwood Export Council and ARUP to create MultiPly, an interactive modular maze-like installation in The Sackler Courtyard at the V&A.

This pavilion will delve into two of the current global challenges – housing and climate change - and will present the fusion of modular systems and a responsible choice of materials as a vital solution.

This three-dimensional permeable structure will be built out of a re-usable panel system made with 60 cubic metres of American Tulipwood, and it will explore ways in which modular architecture can be developed and enjoyed. “The structure will lead people a merry dance up and down staircases and across bridges exploring space and light,” says Andrew Waugh. “The experience will provide previously unseen framed glimpses of the V&A and the courtyard below.”
