went out tonight to experiment and this is the best of a bad bunch. I need more bungy cords to secure the tripod and stop it from having the shakes. This was taken in a multi storey car park as driving on the roads is caking the windscreen in roadsalt... Grrrrr :(
I'll continue to persevere, probably move the tripod to the left a bit and splash out on a remote control that i can change the shutter and aperture with.

The multi-angular Tower is so-named after its 10 sides. It stood at the south-western corner of the Roman legionary fortress and is the only surviving one of eight similar towers. The distinctive bands of terracotta tiles which were used to decorate the walls can still be seen. The top 3 metres of stone including arrow slits were added during the 13th century.
