He is the Member of Parliament from the Nawada constituency in the 16th Lok Sabha, and a former minister in the cabinet of Nitish Kumar.He is a minister of state in MSME ministry. (Ministry of Micro Small and Medium Enterprises) & Sukhminderpal Singh Grewal has been a well-known face of BJP and a household name in Punjab especially in rural areas. He is a mellowed social activist and have organized advocacy over a wide array of political, social and economical issues with prudence over national interest first. Sukhminderpal Grewal is National Secretary of BJP Kisan Morcha. Grewal has been a voice of farmers and farm laborers. He spearheaded the agitation to prevent United States of America to Patent Basmati, Neem and other “Swadeshi Products” and played an important role in blocking their malicious endeavors. He took over the cause of his very own farming community and presented their plight to the Centre Government and was instrumental in MSP hike during NDA regime. He also stood by the farmers over SEZ issue and organized activism over acquisition of fertile agriculture land on the name of Industrialization by the then Congress led Punjab Government hand in glove with “Land Mafia”. He was first to raise the issue of farmer suicides in Punjab and helped the affected families in getting compensation from the Punjab Government. These days, Grewal has been organizing advocacy over agriculture reforms. Sukhminderpal Singh Grewal is a staunch anti-terrorism activist. He took over Congress Government over construction of memorials of terrorists, lobbied for federal integrated counter-terrorism strategy to deal with terrorism, supported enactment of stringent anti-terrorism law and exposed ignorance of UPA Government over Cyber Terrorism. Sukhminderpal Singh Grewal is a firm Nationalist and he is known for his stand against separatists. He was first to expose that UPA Government sold Kashmir peace to remain in power and foremost in announcing that Shri Amarnath Shrine Board Land agitation is a pro- Nationalist and Anti-Separatist agitation. He took over PDP, APHC and NC Leadership for inciting communal tension in Jammu and Kashmir and actively took the cause of Kashmiri Pandits taking refuge in their own country. Sukhminderpal Singh Grewal took over the challenge of Congress Leadership on Nuclear Deal by posing several questions, which even today remain unanswered. He went on to dub Nuclear Deal as “Bofors Sequel” and corroborated his stand by citing several statements of National Security Advisor, Congress Government and US Government Leadership.

Anne Kabahuma runs a small business that produces baskets made by a collective of women in Uganda. She manages Tooro Gallery in Kampala where the women's handmade items are sold, and is looking to local tourists for business, as well as eyeing export markets.

Two alumni were inducted into the College of Engineering Hall of Fame: Kenneth P. Kaufman, BSChE 1981 and David R. McLellan, BSME 1959. Receiving the College of Engineering Industry Achievement Award are: Elizabeth K. Krear, BSME 1988, MSME 1990 and Edwin E. Tatem, PE, MSCE 1990. They were selected among more than 25,000 engineering and computer science alumni who live and work in every state and in 48 countries.

UN Women and Chrysalis delivered in-kind support to approx. 100 women-led micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Badulla, Sri Lanka as part of a project funded by the Republic of Korea. The project supports the implementation of Sri Lanka’s National Action Plan on Women, Peace and Security - where women’s economic empowerment and their active participation in leadership and peacebuilding are key priorities.

Political Parties and CSOs Criticise Modi Government on its Economic Performance
New Delhi, March 15, 2019: “The BJP, before the 2014 elections, created an illusion of achchhe din. Though they promised to double farmers income, increasing Minimum Support Price (MSP) by 1.5 times, they did opposite everything of what they promised.” said Vijoo Krishnan, Central Committee Member of CPI-M, and Joint Secretary of All India Kisan Sabha, at the at the public meeting titled Rebuilding from an Economic Earthquake at the Constitution Club of India today. “The rural distress reached to the unprecedented levels, which were also aided by the vicious atmosphere of the hate created by the cow-vigilantism,” Krishnan added.
The meeting, jointly organised by Delhi Forum and the Financial Accountability Network India, witnessed Vijoo Krishnan, Central Committee Member of CPI-M, and Joint Secretary of All India Kisan Sabha; Kavita Krishnan, Polit Bureau Member, CPI-ML Liberation; Dr Sunilam, Samajwadi Party; and Dinesh Abrol, Professor, Institute of Studies in Industrial Development looking back and evaluating the performance of the five years of the Narendra Modi government on the economy and the immediate agenda for the next government.
Speaking at the meeting, Dr Sunilam, a senior leader of the Samajwadi Party, claimed that the difference in the Minimum Support Price and the market price of the agricultural products is over Rs 50,000 crore, higher than the Union Agriculture Budget. Similarly, the rise in the oil prices and inflation — and payment of GST on the fertilisers and produce — has also considerably increased the input price.
Kavita Krishnan, a Polit Bureau member of the CPIM-L, remarked: “The last four years witnessed, rising inequality, bank frauds, bank charges, systemic destruction of the institutions like NSSO, and denial of the information on the social spending and other crucial data.” She emphasised, “The only people who got benefitted were the rich, and the PSUs like HAL, BSNL, which were doing financially well, today can’t even pay salaries.” She also extended support to the right to employment and food security as the constitutional right, and the introduction of the wealth tax and inheritance tax for the corporate sector.
Professor Dinesh Abrol observed that the future of the Indian economy and development had been adversely impacted due to the policies of the Modi government. This has resulted in declining household incomes, unemployment etc. Citing the survey done by the All India Manufacturers Organisation (AIMO), Prof Abrol said, “post demonetisation, micro and small enterprises have suffered 35 % job losses and 50 per cent dip in revenues. Likewise, the Economic Survey 2017-18 revealed that the credit disbursed by the banks shows that out of a total outstanding credit of Rs. 26.04 billion as in November 2017, 82.6% of the amount was lent to large enterprises, and MSMEs got only 17.4% of total credit.” All this worsened the unemployment.
