CIPE's Center for Digital Economy and Governance (CDEG) and the Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) teams hosted the event "Lunch & Learn - Exploring Approaches to Advance Inclusive Digital Markets in Latin America" on Wednesday, July 31, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm EST at CIPE Headquarters in Washington, DC.
Ángela María Vélez, Director of the Colombia Country Office, and Adam Sachs, Program Manager at CDEG, shared their experiences from a recent collaboration on two projects related to strengthening digital governance in Latin America and Colombian MSMEs' participation in the digital economy. They delved into the insights of two in-person events, including findings for a roadmap on Digital Governance in Latin America, survey results measuring the adoption of digital tools by Colombian MSMEs, and the application of CIPE's digital literacy course to Colombia's entrepreneurial environment.
With support from the German Government through KfW Development Bank, UNDP is strengthening Lebanon’s agri-food sector by assisting local producers like ROHBAN DAIRIES in Zgharta. Established in 1973, ROHBAN DAIRIES produces traditional Lebanese dairy products and is now receiving in-kind equipment, technical coaching, and support in marketing, food safety, and registration.
This initiative is part of a broader effort to boost agricultural productivity and improve economic conditions in the Zgharta-Zawye district.

-UNDP contributed to provide solar power system for electricity supply.
-IOM compensated staff salaries for six months through its employment retention programme.
-UNCTAD delivered a business development and marketing training for the owner of the enterprise.
-ILO delivered a safe workspace training and provided with in cash and in-kind support to operationalize the business.
The centre employs 40 female staff and was operating in a good working environment at the time of visit.

On 28th February 2023, USAID's Kenya Small Business Development Centers (Kenya SBDC) program paid a courtesy call to the Deputy Governor of the County Government of Nakuru, His Excellency David Kones. The visit aimed to introduce the program and strengthen their existing working relationship with the newly elected leaders of Nakuru; which is one of the counties implementing the program.
The Deputy Governor and his administration applauded the move of Kenya SBDC and affirmed to continue working together through various activities geared towards Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises(MSMEs) growth. One key outcome was co-creating training activities to empower the County Staff to serve MSMEs effectively.

Through this support, they are proving that truly sustainable livelihoods are possible, that conditions exist where people and planet can thrive, and by showcasing how maintaining the forest can also be economically beneficial for the community.
