The Bras Basah MRT (Mass Rapid Transit) station in Singapore has a shallow reflection pool which has a glass bottom which acts a skylight for the underground station, bringing in natural light into what would have been otherwise another artificially lit underground station. Given the tropical climate, green algae would probably form on the glass bottom of the pool without maintenance. So, these guys are here cleaning the pool at least once a week. Here is an image of one of the maintenance crew sweeping away the water. The uniform dots you see are part of the design on the glass.

I hope the MRT will be the interaction media between Jakarta residents and the surrounding areas, creating a culture of queues and punctuality, besides clean habits.

The initial section of the MRT, between Yio Chu Kang Station and Toa Payoh Station, opened in 1987 establishing itself as the second-oldest metro system in Southeast Asia, after Manila's LRT System. The network has since grown rapidly as a result of Singapore's aim of developing a comprehensive rail network as the main backbone of the public transport system in Singapore with an average daily ridership of 1.952 million in 2009, just over 63% of the bus network's 3.085 million in the same period
