The American Redstart is a lively warbler that hops among tree branches in search of insects. This male seems to have a Halloween-themed color arrangement. They have just arrived at the forest I like to visit. Kind of the tip of the iceberg for the migrating warbler season. They are beautiful little birds.
My brand new 'Mr Lincoln' for 2020. It has just hatched - a few days later than the very similarly coloured and fragrant, 'Firefighter'. As good as the esteemed rose growers at Swanes tell me 'Firefighter' is, I still think 'Mr Lincoln', circa 1963, is the best hybrid tea-rose in the world. But that's just me.
It has long stems, a dark red/crimson colour and the best perfume you can ever get from a rose with the possible exception of 'Oklahoma' and 'Fragrant Cloud'.
My Canon EOS 5D Mk IV, with the Canon f 2.8 L 100mm macro lens.
Photographed in front of the black, turned-off, screen of my Samsung television - to achieve the black backdrop. I can do this because 'Mr Lincoln' is currently growing in a huge pot, which I lugged in from the balcony, narrowly avoiding the Sonos Play 5 bluetooth speaker which sits by the door!! - lol.
Mr. Bones, an albino alligator, chills in his private pool, protected from the sun and the park's congregation of voracious, non-albino gators.

▶ "The American alligator (Alligator mississippiensis), sometimes referred to as a gator, or common alligator is a large crocodilian reptile native to the southeastern United States and a small section of northeastern Mexico.
Some American alligators are missing melanin, the absence of which makes them albino. These American alligators are extremely rare and almost impossible to find in the wild. They can only survive in captivity, as they are very vulnerable to the sun and predators."

Mountain Bluebird (Immature)
Powell Butte, OR
When this shot first popped up on the screen, I thought “Cool, I got the setting sun as a highlight in the bluebird’s eye.” Closer examination however revealed it was headlights from one of the cars pulling into the parking lot with people hoping to catch a glimpse of the Short-eared Owls that been reported at this location. I too was there for the owls, but was totally content photographing the bluebirds instead.
This is a younger Mr Whiskers.
I think he is 2 here.
Have a lovely new week.
I for one do not want a repeat of last week.
Rooster is thankful for the cooler weather right now. When it was hot out he lived mostly in his swimming pool or in the lake. Soon we can get back to what we love (once the smoke clears) adventures in the mountains. He's a mountain dog! Rooster was limping for about 3 weeks this summer. I think he hurt himself by showing off in front of his girlfriends and hogging the ball. He had me worried because a limping dog can be very serious, but he is fine now.
didn't want to be like the rest.... he wanted to be Different and Wild!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL:-)
The layout of the ponds here doesn't give many opportunities to catch the ducks in-flight, so I was happy to catch this Mallard showing off both wing and head colors.

I truly appreciate you taking the time to view and comment...

Vivica awoke to snuffles right by her ear... her heart stopped for a moment as her mind struggled to understand the velvety muzzle of Chocolate Moose sniffling around her. But she realised with relief that he must have made the scary noises she’d heard!
Just as she relaxed... they both jumped as the doors rattled loudly and there was an awful scream outside :o

Taken on the Bude Canal, this chap was posing for me. The 150-400mm is ridiculously sharp lens at times!
Blue Tit perched in our purple leaved Cherry Tree in the front garden. The 2 feeders hung in the tree are very popular!
