The pied kingfisher ( ceryle rudis ) is the most common african kingfisher.it can be found wherever there is water..and not only freshwater...they can live also along the sea coast and inside harbours.this kingfisher is arrived in europe too coming from middle east.as first in greece and some individuals are arrived in south east italy too.
For sure the high adaptability is the key to its success.
This is a male.it can be recognized as the double black band in the breast.

Spring came early in this region of Portugal. We were foraging mushrooms and a friend decided to show me around. Here we are in a beautiful farm somewhere in the valley of the mountains. As we descended on a 4X4 to the farm I felt like sitting in the cinema being transported to another realm as usually seen on cinematography. It was magical. I will certainly return here again when the weather is more permitting to shoot more images.

Hello Everyone,
As common as they might be, I always enjoy seeing Mallards. I spotted this drake a few days ago at a local park.
Thanks a million for stopping by and for leaving a comment. I do love hearing from you!
Have a fantastic day!

The most widely distributed of its genus, the Amethyst Woodstar is found in a great variety of habitats throughout its circum-Amazonian distribution. The male is mainly bronzy green above with a prominently forked tail, white sides to the rump, and a striking amethyst-colored throat, bordered by a white breast band. The female has a green-spotted white throat, orange-rufous sides to the underparts, and a narrow white line behind the eye. The Amethyst Woodstar has been recorded taking the nectar of a large number of plant species, and at least occasionally the species hawks insects in flight. This woodstar is probably largely sedentary, but local movements potentially occur, though have yet to be proven. The species is usually not uncommon, but is rather rare and has perhaps declined in northeast Argentina, and is very poorly known in Colombia. Züchner, T. and G. M. Kirwan (2020). A perfect example of how the story telling of a photograph can be utterly misleading. So if you're looking at this you'll almost surely think that quite angry look was directed at me. But I'm almost certain it wasn't. In case it's not entirely evident he is on a bicycle and he was approaching a junction, hence him looking my way to check for traffic. I admit that I did set him up for this as I'd seen him approaching and so was set up to take the shot as he went past.
The trick of the street photographer is to make the subject think they are NOT the object of the camera's attention. Sometimes we are more successful than others.
