A friend asked me to take one last pic of his home. He's moving out today.

Strange how a virtual place can feel like home.

Micah and I are moving next week, so you will be seeing less of me for a while as I pack my life into boxes.

film, early October 2012

Three and a half years ago I moved to Stuttgart to study Visual Communication, and this is the first film photo I took in my new home. Yesterday I gave my final presentation on the bachelor project I’ve been working on these past months, which means that the stressful times are finally over. :)

Farewell, little flower garden.

And so the music came and went...

a few things that mean something

I'm writing this from my new room in Stuttgart, where I moved in only three hours ago. Uni starts tomorrow, and with that today forms the end of my one hundred days of my old life project.

I wasn't fully committed to this project, it was rather a constant companion as I just lived my life this summer. I could have went out and put more effort into photos more often, but I think it was just right the way it turned out to be. I took lots of photos that make me remember all the good times I had. And naturally, the bad ones as well as the ones in between.

I feel like I subconciously chose a direction to follow with the photos I took by leaving out certain aspects. I took lots of photos of home and of the things I did that scream summer. But on some days I kind of failed to show the right moments because I've been a little distracted. I didn't include any of Nina, who I feel like mentioning here because she was a big part of the past one and a half months. But I think that's okay, I will still always think of her, and how happy it made me that she was home, when I look at the other ones I chose, for that's what photos are able to do: Convey feelings and moments that aren't directly present.

The last photo I uploaded was from day seventy five, so there's still ¼ missing of the whole project. But I wanted to officially end this on the right day, and I will upload the missing ones at some point.

I don't think I have a lot to say right now. I'm feeling good here, sitting on the bed my sister borrowed me, with only a few of my own things in the room that I brought from home. Starting this new life tomorrow. I'm excited and less afraid than I thought I would be. And I'm a little glad I can let this project go now, and still look back whenever I feel like it.

something personal

All things must come to an end. And so, too, my days as a special events coordinator, set decorator. party planner, floral designer, murder mystery writer, and warehouse woman.

Over the past few weeks, we have completely outloaded our warehouse filled with nearly 30 years of theatrical props and costumes. We gave a large portion to a church.

But there were a few things I simply could not part with. Like that old suitcase (used in our children's theatre performances) and that funny little doll (we once trained about 20 new Santas per year, using little "HOBO" to teach new Santas how to properly hold a child.)

Thanks to all my Flickr friends for their kind understanding and support during this time. It was greatly appreciated.

We still do performances (my husband is a magician and comedy performer, and I still make balloon animals) but the gruelling days of too many shows, and too many hours on the road are done.

And the feeling is bittersweet.

That's what i was doing the last few days....and only a cardboard box was left to fill

#moving_out

I haven't been too active on flickr the past few weeks because I've been in the process of moving to Dallas. Today is the last day of our lease at this house, which means I am officially no longer a Denton resident. It's been home for 14 years and I'll miss it but I'll be back to visit dear friends that still live there.

very busy at the moment, moving abroad, my C41/E-6 scanner is sold. Wish me luck, see you in a few weeks/months! :)

I like to think that this is not the usual cat photo...

Disassembled cubicles being stacked as tenant is likely vacating their office space. As businesses move to a remote workforce or just fail, this will become more common. Then what happens to the empty buildings?

This antique shop is moving out bec. it probably ran out of new things to sell :P

Goresbrook Village

First--thankyou to the Goresbrook peeps I met yesterday, it was incredibly insightful. I hope I can do a little tiny bit to record something of "all this", thank you for inviting me and hopefully I can take some good photos of the redevelopment over the coming few years and capture something about the place you have or are living in.

This will be one of a series of pictures that as part of the wider project will become part of the story, following selected communities going through a lot of upheaval and change. One of them is Goresbrook Village.

This is one of the photos from one of the flats overlooking the A13 and many of the iconic buildings of London in the distance, ones that London prefers to associate with its identity.

I'll be keeping up with the residents and former-residents as the story and redevelopment unfolds.

This was my "safe shot" described in my "Day 192" photo description.

This was the last night at our "old" home! Of course, all of the grown up kids and grand kids just had to come and say cheerio to our family home, of many years!!

My wife, daughter and son found its all a little emotional ~ hey they were tiny little kids when we first moved in ~ so I thought it was time to have a laugh so I got the old tripod out!!

B&W No.7 ~ 365 (Again!) ~ ... Happy, Sad and Silly!! ....

I am slowly managing to find a little time for taking photographs ... still somewhat busy getting our new home ready for our permanent "move in" but will keep trying to grab a few photos as and when I can!

Thanks to everyone who views this photo, adds a note, leaves a comment and of course BIG thanks to anyone who chooses to favourite my photo .... Thanks to you all.
