The drive to the summit of Mount Lemmon is 28 miles. Here you can see a group of Harley-Davidsons swaying through the scenic mountain passes.

Mount Lemmon, Arizona

8 mm is pretty absurd at times.

Rising north of Tucson, Arizona, the peak of Mount Lemmon is 9,157 ft (2,791 meters) above sea-level and is home to several antennas. The city of Tucson can be seen in the desert valley below. The trees are bare as a result of a recent forest fire.

On July 16 2014 I joined the Sabino Canyon Volunteer Naturalists led hike on Mt. Lemmon. We hiked the loop formed by the Mt. Lemmon Trail and the Meadow Trail (formerly the Power Line Road and the Lemmon Park Trail) at the top of the mountain.

Here's a really long panorama of the Mt. Lemmon lookout. Tucson is off in the distance.

Some shots from a recent retreat I was on at Mount Lemmon, Arizona

After sunset, cars head down the 9,157 foot high Mount Lemmon north east of Tucson Arizona. Mount Lemmon is a popular summer destination because when temperatures soar to 100 F in the summer, Mount Lemmon is usually a comfortable 30 degrees cooler.

In this case I couldn't resist the vista near the formation known as General Hitchcock where granite stacks below and above stand watch through eons - silently observing the passing bicycles and motorists. Including the loud obnoxious ones who find sport shouting loudly as they drive by: "DON'T JUMP", "BWAHAHA!" and so on.

The foreground rocks were lit by my 200 lumen LED flashlight. Celestial lighting by the sun. Distant lights by Tucson Electric Power.

Before sunset, the scene looked more like this.

I was on Mount Lemmon a year ago, and really enjoyed it - so when a chance to go back came up, how could I resist trying to get another shot of this fabulous warbler?

Deposited by the spring melt, now in a dry stream bed.

This poor lady put her feet up on that metal campfire ring in front of her for a while, and when she put her feet back down, she exclaimed, "Oh! I just stepped in a marshmallow!" But actually, it was her melted shoes that looked like melted marshmallows. This was just too funny not to get a photo of, and she was a good sport about it.
