Respectfully referred to as 'The Mountain' by local residents.. Mt. Rainier rules & reigns!

Other: Ascending to 14,410 feet above sea level, Mount Rainier stands as an icon in the Washington landscape. An active volcano, Mount Rainier is the most glaciated peak in the contiguous U.S.A., spawning five major rivers. Subalpine wildflower meadows ring the icy volcano while ancient forest cloaks Mount Rainier's lower slopes. Wildlife abounds in the ecosystems of this national park. Approximately 96% of it is wilderness designated.

Visitors welcome to peruse my photostream & albums for a variety of seasonal landscapes/wildlife/florals. All comments or favs sincerely appreciated.

Mount Baldo range 20201213

Monte Baldo is a mountain range in the Italian Alps, located in the provinces of Trento and Verona. Its ridge spans mainly northeast-southwest, and is bounded from the south by the highland ending at Caprino Veronese, from the west by Lake Garda, from the north by the valley joining Rovereto to Nago-Torbole and, from east, the Val d'Adige.

The name derives from the German Wald ("forest"); it appears for the first time on a German map in 1163.

Mount Assiniboine is a pyramidal peak mountain located on the Great Divide, on the British Columbia/Alberta border in Canada. It is the highest peak (3,618 m) in the Southern Continental Ranges of the Canadian Rockies.

I climbed to the summit 4 times during the trip, the sunrise and sunset were so different at every visits. This was the scene before sunrise, clouds hanging on top of Mount Assiniboine! Untouched nature, peaceful environment except very cold and windy on top of the mountains... The most beautiful place on earth!

Reservation is so difficult, like Lake O'Hara, entering the "A" mountain was difficult... either 30km hiking in (with bears) or lifted by helicopter... I was lucky to get the huts reservation at Mount Assiniboine after calling over 500 calls last fall. I tried to book Lake O'Hara's shuttle for this fall, I was waiting at the very beginning of online registration opening, when it was opened online, I was on the queue with the number of over 10K, those were numbers of people before me, I was online exactly when it was opened the queue, I could not get it... Have to hike 11km from the parking lot to Lake O'Hara, then climb the mountains...

There's a lovely 16 km (return distance) walk to the summit of Mount Allan from the Ribbon Creek trailhead. You still gain more than 1400 m's elevation, but there aren't any "technical" sections. Lots of marmots too... The coolest place is the section near gendarmes, huge pillars of rock.

I unearthed some shots from my solo camp near Barron Creek in 2011. The vegetation there is of the riotous mesozoic remnant rainforest type, which is not hard to like.

Mount Doom is a fictional volcano in J. R. R. Tolkien's Middle-earth legendarium. It is located in the northwest of the Black Land of Mordor and close to Barad-dûr. Alternative names, in Tolkien's invented language of Sindarin, include Orodruin and Amon Amarth. Wikipedia

Stepping back in time to 2014 with this moody image from the top of Mt Burns, New Zealand. This is a wonderfull short but steep hike well off the tourist radar. I did the hike two days in a row and on the following day was greeted with snow fall up half way up. I remember fighting the rain and the mist on the lens on this day.

Mount Pleasant Cemetery is located in Toronto. It was opened in 1876 with kilometres of drives and walking paths, fountains, statues and botanical gardens. It was originally laid out by German-born landscape architect Henry Adolph Engelhardt, inspired by the European and American garden cemeteries of the 19th century, with influences from Mount Auburn Cemetery in Boston. This is the west entrance, off Yonge St., built in Tudor Revival style.

Mount Rundle - Wedge-shaped mountain, sitting at 9,672 feet with an advanced hiking trail. It is a distinctive landmark of this region. The photo was taken from Vermilion Lakes. Fall is a beautiful time to visit as the sun lights up the shrubs and grasses dressed in their fall colors. Spending a few hours relaxing along the shores of the lake, enjoying the spectacular views of Mount Rundle at sunset....

Mount Ngauruhoe, New Zealand

Mount Ngauruhoe is an active volcano in New Zealand. The volcano lies between the active volcanoes of Mount Tongariro to the north and Mount Ruapehu to the south, to the west of the Rangipo Desert and 25 kilometres to the south of the southern shore of Lake Taupo. Ngauruhoe erupted 45 times in the 20th century, most recently in 1974. Mount Ngauruhoe was used as a stand-in for the fictional Mount Doom in Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings movie trilogy.

This is a shot taken from the bridge joining the Perth CBD (downtown) with Mount St access to Kings Park Botanic Gardens. Ive been exploring this area in more detail and the earlier shots I posted were from this same area. The purple of the flowering Jacarandas can be seen clearly along with the city apartment buildings.
