Have a pawsome day everyone, be kind, enjoy some little thing, and be safe.

Each morning I go out with my dog for the usual early walk in the country, just outside town. This morning, Oct.16th, I found the first heavy fog of the season. We have plenty of fog here during all the cold months, being ours a land of rivers, canals, spings and with especially spread rice fields - rice being our main agricultural production. As I had the camera with me, I took the first picture of fog of the season. The bird you see is a blue heron, one of the many that thrive in the rice paddies, catching frogs, snails, mice and small fish. Lovely birds, nevertheless. Quite common too.

La prima nebbia della stagione della Bassa Novarese. La foto è fresca, fresca, di stamattina. Ho persino preso un airone cinerino nella foto. Ce ne son tanti, qui da noi...

This is from about a week ago. Will be on the water tomorrow morning and hoping for weather similar to this. If the weather doesn't cooperate, I might just zip the camera in the case and paddle around for a while as I need to get out.

Our first sub-freezing morning of the Autumn season! The rear deck is icy and slippery! Coffee is hot and the 64 degrees indoors feels nice! Cooler tomorrow morning and colder still in the early part of next week! But we will still have some warm days with the Gulf of Mexico air moving our way again after this cold front passes! Happy Saturday and Weekend Everyone. We may actually have to turn on the heat next week!! LOL

Our morning drive homeward bound. We found ourselves in bumper to bumper traffic. An early morning drive through Ottawa after a wonderful weekend celebrating my birthday.

This was the sky that greeted me this morning and I couldn't resist capturing it. The only thing I've done to the original is crop it to remove a tv aerial - the colours are absolutely as seen! It looks nice on a black background.

I took my coffee to the garden this morning...as the sun began to flood the flowers that are blooming in this early season..it is a meditation for me to just walk around, pull a weed or two, check for slugs and other critters...and mostly just being...taking photos...sitting...thinking...coming alive again with the sun, morning, and flowers. Music is by the late Steve Halprin, from his album Golden Voyage.

A breath of autumn air

a puff to match the cloud

crops ready for harvest

stalks ready to be plowed

... horizon begins its awakening

colors bright and intense

trees stand like silhouettes

an intricate web like fence

sunlight warms the morning

brilliant colors light the sky

lean upon the wooden fence

indulge in morning fresh..and sigh.

The last few summers here have been especially hot and dry....and I know some of you are in areas suffering from drought right now. But this summer here we've been relieved to have rain and cooler temperatures, and the other morning was lush with dew. Hoping for relief from drought for those suffering.

Zorie was helping Mom blend eggs in the kitchen. Her sweet smile looked so warm in the cold morning. Yeah~It was surely a lovely morning!

Given my very, very brief visit in Boston, sleep was, unfortunately, not quite on the agenda for this night photographer. After exploring the city the night before, I went to bed around midnight only to wake up around 3:45am so I could find the location I had in mind for the sunrise at 5:48am.

I have never used GPS to find any location. I’m an avid connoisseur of maps, globes, and road atlases. (Yes, I’m rather "19th century" in that sense). Of course, in my confused state of mind somewhere between lethargy and exhilaration, I realized I had forgotten my maps in the hotel room. It was too late, though -- the key was in the ignition and I was already driving through the empty streets of downtown Boston. Going back to get the maps would waste precious time, which I had so little of, so I had to use my wits and regional topography to get me to East Boston.

For me, there’s always something very enjoyable about cruising on the empty highways of a major American city when everyone’s asleep! With the cool wind blowing through the windows, I began to wake from my drowsy stupor. With a few right turns and a few wrong turns, I managed to reach an alternative spot to get the view you see posted above.

The place I really wanted to be was a good mile and a half (2.4km) away, which is where this photo was achieved (after jogging the distance and avoiding a skunk in the park who seemed to be oddly drawn to me and wanted my company that early in the morning -- I had to dodge that fellow with stealth). Running with one's camera, backpack, and tripod while racing with the sunrise is no easy feat. That skunk almost blew my chances too!

Regardless, these are the entertaining details of my adventures of capturing Boston before dawn! Have an excellent week!

The Boston galleries (City Images) (Aerials) are completed and now available on my official website, which has also been overhauled, and undergoing more changes! Enjoy!

I decided to play with shooting black and white rather than converting to black and white in pp. Morning light was warming these to bullies as they were at alert for anything interesting. Larger stares.
