With morning servicing complete, the crew of East Broad Top Railroad Locomotive #16 "Nick" backs down from the north yard switch in Rockhill Furnace, PA to pick up a cut of loaded coal hoppers, freshly delivered from the mines and destined for interchange with the Pennsylvania Railroad up in Mt. Union. On the adjacent track, little sister Locomotive #12 "Millie" sits cold this day, awaiting a tow to the servicing area near the roundhouse, where she will get a boiler wash.
Of course, in 2023, there will be no boiler wash for "Millie." She's currently last on the list of the 5 remaining EBT steamers, which are awaiting restoration to operating condition. This re-enactment image was captured during an April, 2023 photo shoot on the East Broad Top Railroad, featuring the newly-restored Mikado #16, seen here.
I was inspired by many of Nathan Smith's builds and his use of fog and wanted to create something to experiment adding fog. It was refreshing returning to a very organic-feeling style. Hope you enjoy!
Originally photographed and processed this in 2010. I went back and re-processed last week to get a more neutral color balance and get more of the natural color from the pool.
Good morning PLFs. Happy MonBei! Happy MonMei! Happy MLK Day.
Happy I have the day off from work day! Hope you do, too!
Have a pawsome day everyone, be safe.

Morning beams of light in light fog, worth the frozen fingers! :)

Another early morning out taking photos today. Didnt feel like travelling far so ended up in a local field that had just been ploughed. For the light i nicked an idea from a fellow Flickr Photographer*, Its an empty L'Oreal shower gel bottle held over the end of a torch! They come in a selection of colours so i'm trying to get them all lol

Taken at 5:15 in the morning - I wanted to catch the full moon and this was best I could do without driving somewhere, which I was not able to do. I typically don't use a phone for my photos; today is an exception.
I had three buck in my front yard this morning. This guy had the least growth in his horns, but posed the nicest for me.

Actually my favorite location to take some nice landscape photography: Lake Mittersee and Lake Weitsee close to Ruhpolding and Reit im Winkl.

Good morning light! How sad is it that those that still sleep
miss the morning's musings of beauty as it creeps.

In sorting through old files I ran across this shot taken three years ago. It was a color shot that I really liked and wondered what it would like it B&W. So here it is. This was the morning after our arrival. And my first visit ever to Yosemite. We had heard it was going to snow but didn't have any idea it would be such perfect morning.
Morning breaking ... getting light .. the dark blue of the night receding .. giving way to Saturday morning ..
Snow and fog ..
The morning after the night. Haven't done one of these for awhile.
For other things and further elaborations, visit (and like):
This Wood Duck just came really close to me after landing one morning, he checked things out then swam out where he first landed and took off again, I guess Bob, the guy he had came to see, wasn't there.
That happens a lot... :)
