Thanks to Jasmin Hodge from Forth Valley College, New Zealand has got its first Moodle cows. They are funky stress balls that you don't really want to disfigure as cute as they look. The little brown / grey one next to the Moodle cow is a handmade South African cow. Thus, they can keep each other company. :-)
Thank you, Jas!

Standard Moodle, Distribution, or Flavour: Which version is for me?
Created by Colleen Simon for opensource.com
A Moodle Q&A session for the South Pacific College of Natural Therapies took place in the college library. The building is fantastic: airy, light, bright, sunny. However, when you need to use the projector in the library, the windows don't have blinds and make it difficult to see the projector image. But we managed. :-)
Poster I created for our 2011 CTET Open House. The audience for this poster is faculty and program associates we work with out of the teaching & learning centre. The intent is to prepare them for an upgrade from Moodle 1.9 to Moodle 2.1 that we have in the works. I wanted to create something that would visually show them a few of the new features of the platform. Feel free to use or modify as per the terms of the CC license.
New users of Moodle discover an extensive virtual community that supports their interests. The videoconference conducted by lead programmer Martin Dougiamas led to requests for more reference sites.
Email is a great point to point messaging system. Email is also good for distributing information to a group of people who we think are interested in that bit of information.
This does not always work; people want to know things they are interested in. They also want to pull out the information rather then pushed. Internet forum or message board is a great way of achieving that.
People can ask question, get answers by the community or authority, message is saved for future reference. The message is also saves as a thread which gives a better understanding on the conversation. A search option makes the forum even more accessible.
There are various ways of starting a forum. You can start with hosted forum powered yahoo/google, or you can start your own one. Business organization probably would like to have their own forum to have better control and security like myBB, PhpBB, vBulletin. Internet forum is also known as bulletin boards.
Moodle has its in-build forum module. The initial purpose was to use forum for better learning delivery as a part of the course, however forum can be used independently just as a discussion group.

More than 11,000 files comprise Moodle, which suggests its sophisticated capability. Even though it is Open Source Software, its capabilities exceed those found in pricey commercial comparisons. [Videoconference image shot during the first Irish Moodle Moot.]
Currently there are 1832 Moodle sites in 92 countries. The reach of this Open Source Virtual Learning Environment continues to spread year-by-year, helped along by an enthusiastic community such as the one at Dublin City University, host of the first Irish Moodle Moot.

detailed on the blog. Half bull mastiff and half standard poodle ( somebody got into someone else's back yard! Not a combo that is being actively bred that I know of!!)
