I couldn't help but crack-up thinking of John Clese and Monty Python when I saw the photo I'd taken, as this Great Blue Heron hunted gophers in their holes. It's actually a very fluid part of its technique, keepin its head as far back as possible, so the gopher can't see it as it moves closer to the hole. The final move will be stretching its neck forward while crouching low, then lunging with lightning speed to capture its prey. That's very fast: The gopher need move a short distance down, and it can't be reached, while the heron must cover a lot more distance. They're very patient, and very interesting to watch. Especially when they're successful, as they often are (please see below)!

Along the Falls Branch Trail, the state park people were kind enough to build a neat swinging bridge. You can, if you wish, set up at the bridge and force other hikers to answer three questions in order to cross...or you can act out scenes from Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.

This is the castle near Stirling in Scotland, where much of Monty Python and the Holy Grail was filmed.

After all the fun at Vicky's I decided to watch a bit of Monty Python at home. I do like that John Cleese chap, and I can even walk a bit like him. I'm glad that Neil's finally decided to let me write these bits myself.
In the Ricardo Mantalban Theater lobby, after the Sunday afternoon performance of An Evening Without Monty Python. Drew Carey was there, I presume, because Alan Tudyk, a "Whose Line" alumnus, was in the cast.
