Thanks to a friend I finally got my hands on an original, unbuilt(!) Monogram Chaparral 2D sidewinder chassis. A welcome addition to the collection, after building two other Monogram 2D's, and having to use incorrect chassis. I used a file to remove a little material from the motor mount area, so that I could move the motor back a little to accommodate a smaller pinion gear than the standard one. I'm OK with the Cox motor for now. I was unable to find original Monogram wheels for this project, so I'm using wheels from Pattos, with inserts made from the model kit wheels. Tires are correct replica Ortmanns from RS Slotracing.

I made this one for my sister, Heather. I used a repurposed Shabby Chic Flat Sheet for the fabric, and embroidered the cursive lowercase letter "h" with a hot pink DMC floss.
